Quality food and pub, 1 of the best on S Broads!

Moored for the night at Somerleyton, about 10 min walk 2 pub, loved it! Restaurant is quite ritzy for boaters but we all felt very comfy in the bar, inc the girl and dog! Nice locals, friendly staff, good booze, great food! Def stopping here next time! Beautiful pub, top notch and right up there as 1 of the best on S Broads! Real food 2, decent price for the quality and delicious! Very nice pub! Almost a little 2 posh for boaters tho they don't treat you that way, lol

Mooring Description :
About 10 min walk, great moorings!
Food Description :
Food was delicious! Talented chef there! Only thing was the real anchovies, quite a few of them.. in the Caesar salad really freaked my girl out but made as a quality salad should be but wished they would have mentioned that as in the past if a child ordered 1 where I worked I'd ask if they'd like with or without anchovies, not 1 ever had with, lol But really great food! I enjoyed her salad very much! lol

Gourmet standard food

Visited the Dukes Head on a Friday evening without a reservation with the intention of eating. Not a good idea! The restaurant was chocka but the helpful bar staff fixed us up in the bar.

Mooring Description :
Free 24hr moorings a short walk down the hill from the pub.
Food Description :
The only pub/restaurant we ate at on the Broads that I could describe the food as outstanding and for the quality not expensive.

Disappointed Vegetarian!

With so many rave reviews about the food I had hoped to get something special in the vegetarian line - was bitterly diaappointed and won't be back. Best avoided if you are a veggie! They did keep an exceptionally fine pint of Adnams though.

Food Description :
Three of us visited - two meat eaters and one vegetarian. Only one member of the party was happy with their meal. The other meat eater had the Duke Burger and chips which was quite small in size and didn't tatse that great (apparently). The veggie option was a stuffed pepper .... a very small stuffed pepper that was accompanied by three lettuce leaves and nothing else. It really was more of a starter than a main course and, at £10, extremely expensive given that it was pretty unremarkable and very tiny!

Super Food

Always a super menu, a class above your standard pub food. You are always made welcome, and service is good.

Mooring Description :
Publis moorings, watch out for the current always moor against it, and leave slack on your ropes, as quite a big rise & fall.
Food Description :
Never been dissapointed, can rely on it being top notch, prices pretty reasonable for what you get.

This pub has recently been taken over by Hugh Crossley the heir to the Somerleyton estate. He has certainly made his mark. The interior is modern but still very inviting.

Mooring Description :
10-12 moorings a 2 minute walk away.
Food Description :
The menu is very good with lots of dishes for vegetarians (reasonably priced). Steak was excellent and vegetarian linguine was to die for. Good selection of wine and real ales and cider.
