A great pub with some good real ales. The management are very friendly and nothing is too difficult for them. The bar area is clean and has that "real" pub feel about it. Keenly priced and a wide choice of drinks.

Mooring Description :
BA 24 hour moorings at the end of the dyke (stern on only). Note that there is no fresh water supply here and there is no more refuse disposal point either. Could prove interesting if meeting another boat coming towards you when on the last stretch of the dyke as it gets quite narrow in places.
Food Description :
Food was of good quality and freshly prepared by the landlords wife (chef was off poorly). No complaints at all in the food department. Again the prices are excellent and give good value for money.

What a transformation!

Hearing some good reports about the new regime, we spent the first night of our holiday at Rockland Staithe. What a difference in the New Inn compared to our last visit two years ago. The pub is looking very smart and clean and the landlord was very helpful and friendly. Spoke to the chef and wherever possible all food is made on the premises and is very reasonably priced for the quality and was well presented. It was so good that we called back later in the week for a second meal! Four vegetarian options were on the menu during our visits. Three real ales on including Adnams Ghost Ship at £3.40 which was well kept. Free wi-fi is also available for customers.

Mooring Description :
Nice sheltered moorings at the staithe - a lovely spot!
Food Description :
I had the goats cheese tart at just under £10 which was layered with caramelized red onions, sunblush tomatoes and tangy goats cheese, served with salad and hand cut chips and was delicious! My other half had the beef chilli and rice which came with a side dish with jalapenos, grated cheese and nachos - he thoroughly enjoyed it. On the second visit the Portabello Mushroom and Feta burger was sampled and also pronounced delicious!

Change of hands!

Alex and John's reign

Mooring Description :
Good but limited moorings at the Staithe.
Food Description :
Must enter a note recording Alex and John's short stay here. Although temporary managers they really made a huge effort to keep the New Inn up there with the best Broadland refreshment stops. Very best wishes for the future and I do hope you find a pub you can eventually call your own! Good luck to Mick and Paula as the new owners!

Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares?

Oh dear. Having been built up as a "bistro-style" pub on this forum, with rave reviews about 1001 varieties of Moules, this was a bitter disappointment. The dining room is very pleasant and I see what people mean about "bistro" but the food is at best "pub grub". Training issues too - the management need to take a little time with their teenage waiting staff and train them so that they know that English Mustard isn't a traditional condiment to be offered with fish. I would give the New Inn a wide berth next time, and motor on up to the Surlingham Ferry House, or the Beauchamp Arms, both within a few minutes of Rockland Broad.

Mooring Description :
very close although there are more idyllic mooring spots less than 15 minutes motoring away.

We Were Left in the Dark !

Having been here a few years ago and had an enjoyable time, we made this our final mooring on this years' holiday. We arrived early, to make sure of a mooring. The pub sign said open 7:00pm so we went off for a walk and birdwatching round the edge of the Broad. Not wanting to seem too eager, we waited until 7:10pm to cross the road for our final night on the Broads - Two lights on in the pub building but the pub remained closed all night. There were 3 other boats moored intending to frequent the Inn as well. Luckily, we had some supplies left on board. Not what we had planned. Next year we will ring ahead !

Mooring Description :
Narrow dyke, good stern on mooring. Fairly sheltered, despite the strengthening winds.

Not your average Broads pub

Food, beer, wines, service all well above average if a little pricey for the area.

Mooring Description :
Small number of oorings stern to at the staithe with shore power available. Nearby road is no so busy as to be intrusive.
Food Description :
Excellent menu with local produce, bistro style with local shot game etc, mussels done more ways than a Belgian restaurant, quiet and a little more sophisticated than your average broadland waterside pub. Real Ales and a more than acceptable wine list.

Excellent all round

Well kept real ale. Excellent restaurant with imaginative if limited veggy options. Mussells are very popular which mystifies me!

Mooring Description :
Good moorings available for about 10 boats, mostly stern on.
Food Description :
After finding this place shut down last year meals and service were beyond our expectations. Just about the best eating experience we have had on the Broads.
