Pub Restaurant

Everything a good village pub should be. Quality real ales from local breweries.(Note - as at June 2007 only offerings from Greene King and Adnams) Homemade food served in separate room. The fish and chips all day on a Friday are not to be missed. Selection of malt whisky. Run by the same landlord, Ray (Winkle) Norman for over 30 years.

Nice friendly pub

Really nice small traditional pub, nice little restaurant, great beer garden. Nice selection of beers, food really good,. Live music on quite a few Fridays, and beer festival in the summer. There are some great walks in the area look out for the leaflets in the pub. Dog friendly

Mooring Description :
There's not much room for mooring, and is often full, not suitable for large boats.maybe room for 5-6 boats on the left at the end of the staithe, on the right at the end is a sailing boat yard that has about 10 Boats moored up, and I think you can moor there as well, but best to ask first.

Community Pub is brilliant

The pub was going to be closed down and the community put together and with the aid of a grant bought the pub. The beer was really good well kept cellar, we didn't eat but saw other people get food and it looked fantastic, having seen what they got we plan to eat there in thr future. The prices for beer and food were both very reasonable, a lot less than pub's on the river. The pub was full of locals which was great to see and they were very friendly a number of them chatting to us making us feel very welcome. Not only is this s good pub well worth and enjoyable supporting a community enterprise.

Mooring Description :
Limited mooring at Upton Staithe if you can get moored up a beautiful spot has picnic tables. Water available at Whepstone boat yard, also boat refuse at end of staithe.
Food Description :
Didnt eat ourselves so won't wil leave rating at 5 but people who did said the food was excellent

I love this place

I really liked the feeling of wecoming from all the staff. I loved the way they was with my 4year old child

Mooring Description :
THe nearest moorings are about a 10 minute walk away. ANd you need a tourch so you can let the traffic know you are on the roadside.
Food Description :
The whole family loved the food here. I couldn't eat it all so I brought a piece of fish home with me as we went on Fish ans CHip night which is a Friday Night

Liked it

Scruffiest pub I've been in for ages but friendly and very cheap - felt comfortable. Only went for a drink but will go again.

Not Up to Scratch

One of the few disappointments of our holiday. This pub was always famed for its friendly service and quality beers. Have drunk Wolf and Woodfordes beers here among many others. Sadly all on offer now is Greene King gravy and Adnams, a great beer but not a rarity on the Broads. The Adnams was OK. However I'm afraid the service was offhand and surly. A classic case of barstaff doing penance. I began to wonder if it had changed hands but didn't stick around to find out. Very disappointing.

Mooring Description :
Moorings are at Upton Dyke, about 10 minutes walk.

Thankfully not.

A proper old-fashioned pub.

Homely rather than modern-luxurious (great fires in winter), and always friendly. Good varied selection of beers. Large garden, probably good for kids.

Mooring Description :
Often busy, especially when the yachts are "at home" - there is a mooring at the mouth of the dyke.
Food Description :
Good salads, fair prices. Friday fish menu does look impressive.
