Sunday Lunch Carvery

One of the best carvery lunches I have had in a long time. Booking advisable as they seem to regulate numbers. We dined at 12 noon and there were less than 15 customers there so only a short queue. They seem to time the bookings so as one group of customers are served and seated, the next bookings arrive, there never seemed to be an exsessive queue. Choice of five meats and plentiful veggies were excellent and tasty followed by a small but excellent choice of desserts. Can't comment on beer as not a beer drinker but had glass of Magners (would have preffered Aspalls!) and partner had presentable glass of dry white wine. Service and price excellent. Ambience a little on the noisy side in the large function room but not to distracting. A good choice for an excellent Sunday roast without the hassle of cooking.

As it was mid November, we were the only boat moored on the staithe. Would assume it gets busy in the high season

Great Service

Having been many times in the past on our boating hols knew that it was best to book so I phoned from the boat on the morning, good move, it was busy and it is best to make sure you can have a table before mooring. The Meal...There were four of us, three of the meals were first class, unforfunatly the fourth (mine), a surf and turf was tough, full of grissle and fat. I don"t normally make a fuss but felt that I must say something, well the response from the staff was terrific, offering to cook me another steak , which I declined so they deducted the cost of the meal from my bill which I though was more than fair, (11.95)we all had deserts which were lovely and certainly not overpriced at only £2.50 each. We they went to the games room and finished the evening with a couple of games of pool. The evening could have been ruined by that meal but the actions of the restraunt staff made sure that it certainly was not.

Great Food and comfortable accomodation

We have just stayed for 3 nights at the hotel, and have had a super time. The room was very comfortable, clean with tea/coffee etc. and Sky TV, had a 4 poster bed, and a shower room. There were a few signs of mildew in the room in the corners probably due to close proximety to the river and trees, but I must say that the room did not feel damp, and had a wall heater, and an additional heater on wheels to plug in if required, not that we needed it because it was lovely and warm. Overall the whole place was very clean, and the staff were smashing, they couldn't do enough for you. Excellent value for money.

Mooring Description :
Public moorings a few steps away from the pub, always very popular.
Food Description :
We had a 3 course breakfast every morning, which basically filled us up for most of the day. Also we had a super meal in the evening, starters chicken ceaser salad, and whitebait, then mains duck in a sweet chilli sauce, and skate wing. I must say the skate wing was fab, hadn't had it for ages and thoroughly enjoyed it.

This has got to be one of the finest restaurants on the broads

The moorings are easy to moor up to and help is always available from the adjacent moored boats. the large grassy banks are safe for everyone.

Excellent Food, Good Beer and Well Trained and Attentive Staff

Visited on 23 July for dinner and although the restaurant was very, very busy, a very pleasant young lady asked us to take a seat in the bar whilst she sorted us a table. Thankfully, 'full' was not part of the vocabulary here. Highly recommended.

Mooring Description :
Arrived at approx 3.30pm and had no trouble mooring (free). At around 4pm, the moorings were full and a number of boats arrived, turned and left disappointed. Excellent moorings and within a few yards walk of the Hotel.
Food Description :
Could not fault the food in any way. The portions were large and there was a long list of choice of main dishes for £ 6.95 each. Excellent value and quality and served by attentive and well trained staff.

A cavernous restaurant, seemingly lots of small rooms and very busy. Service impeccable and extremely polite.

Mooring Description :
Plentiful, although if boats were to moor closer together, more could have fitted in. Narrow, we were "touched" by one boat once on it's way in and again on the way out. Bow thruster proved very useful for turn at end of staithe.
Food Description :
We ate at 630pm and some dishes were already sold out. Our party ate Trout, Fisherman's Pie, Surf and Turf (x2) and a burger with chedder cheese. Overall, food was very good as was the Adnams; I think it was Adnams

Great Food & Good Beer!

We stoped overnight here last week and had a great meal and a good pint of Adnams. Theakstons Black Bull was also on offer though not really to my tastes.

Mooring Description :
Plentiful moorings at the staithe but it is popular and can fill up fairly quickly.
Food Description :
Extensive menu at exceptionally good prices. Many choices at £6-95 plus daily/weekly specials and portions are large. Several vegetarian options, on the day we visited there were four veggie choices on the main menu plus another four on the specials. We both opted for Quorn Sausages (3 of), Mash & Veg with onion gravy at £6.95 ... you can't beat a bit of comfort food sometimes! Will definately go back again.

Dependable

This is another place where you are in safe hands. You would be unlucky not to get a decent pint here.

Great Value Sunday Carvery........

We booked a table for 4 + highchair approx 2hrs before arriving. Got in no probs. Staff were helpful, food was absolutely bloody lovely! And to be told when asking for a little more meat being told 'who am i to starve you' was a very pleasant response. Brilliant 'low' kids playground. fantastic place, brilliant food. another revisit for sure and hopefully on a sunday.

SUTTON STAITHE HOTEL

Stopped here while boat hunting on their special offer 2 for 1 deals, food was fantastic and the menu extensive, probably a little too much choice as was really impressed by the value for money, the rooms are great, complimentary tea and coffee and a limited sky TV but spotlessly clean and very homely, the regulars and staff were friendly and the beer was excellent, there was a function on that went on till around 1.00am but we were warned when we booked and enjoyed the atmosphere. breakfast set us up for the day and would reccomend to anyone who enjoys good food at take away prices

Mooring Description :
The moorings were well kept and tidy and we are looking forward to weekends at the boat where this will almost certainly be our first stop when we arrive on a sunny friday evening before we get properly under way on saturday.
Food Description :
prawn cocktail starters, plenty of prawns, crisp salad garni only let down was spread not real butter on the bread but some people prefer the plastic stuff. surf and turf, 2 for one, terrific value 2 main courses for under £7 coffee, kenco, super, could not manage a sweet though there was a good choice

Sutton Staithe Hotel

Has anyone else tried the Sunday carvery? It's fabulous value and seems to have become a bit of an insitution among the locals - so best book ahead. Best bit (apart from the quality of beef/pork/turkey on offer) is the crisp yet fluffy roast potatoes!

Second-best pub on the broads IMHO.

Fairly quiet most times, except when the tax-dodgers (students) are about. Always a must when we visit broadland. Good food, play area, pool tables, jukebox and Sky TV for the football, at the right time of year.

Mooring Description :
Unbelievably (perhaps I shouldn't say this) the staithe is always empty even though the dyke is full. Must be the time we arrive.

Only stopped off once at lunchtime on our broads holiday this year, but were so impressed with the service, the staff and the food that we have booked up to spend 4 nights at the Hotel over Christmas. First time we have ever been away at Christmas and really looking forward to it.

Well worth a visit

A very cosy little bar at the side of the hotel and a gem of a beer garden which is a lovely sun trap in summer. The rest of the hotel was not explored although I believe there are function rooms etc which cater for wide screen TV, music and the like. The beer quality was impressive. This pub was one of only a handful selling real ale on the Broads in the 70's. The experience shows, the Adnams was excellent and one of the best pints sampled during our holiday. Service was very good and friendly. A beer festival is planned for later in the year, look out for this. If the beer quality is as good as the Adnams, it's got to be worth a visit. Check the website. In summary this is the kind of place where your chances of being dissapointed fall to a very low level. Do try the Adnams! :-)

Mooring Description :
Moorings at the staithe only a short walk away. Improvements were being carried out in June but these should be completed soon.
Food Description :
Food not sampled. However given the attention to customer care here its got to be worth a try.
