Best Riverside Pub

We travelled by car from Potter Heigham for a special occasion meal.

Mooring Description :
Not reviewed on this occasion, but there are plenty of moorings alongside a beautiful green.
Food Description :
Four of us sat down to a three course meal with drinks. Total bill a little over £100.00, which may not be cheap, but worth every penny. The pub was busy - that's always a good sign. The car park almost full by 7.30 p.m. Atmosphere a gentle buzz when we arrived, but got progressively louder. No piped music in the background. Service was excellent. There is a wait for food as you would expect with all menu items cooked from fresh but we were served attentively and promptly. No-one was disappointed with any aspect of the meal. We will return - often.

The venue for our "Last Supper"

Coltishall at the end of one of the Broads finest stretch of cruising makes an ideal last night before reluctantly giving the boat back to Mssrs Royall. The Kings Head makes this even more worthwhile!

Mooring Description :
Very pleasant free moorings on Coltishall Common.
Food Description :
Two carnivores plus a veggie dined superbly once again. Wild mushroom tagliawotsit was deemed splendid. A chicken dish was also appreciatively consumed. I had the most magnificent belly pork with amazing crackling! All so very healthy of course but delicious. Makes the last supper just that bit more tolerable after a week that just flew by.

Highlight of our annual Visit

Super food, reasonably priced.Visited in September 2006, 2007 and 2008 - no doubt we'll be back for 2009. It is the "end of the river" and also the turning point of our annual holiday. From here it's a gentle potter back to PH.

Mooring Description :
Plenty of room BT payphone across the road.

Excellent pub!!

Superb food, very friendly and efficient staff, clean environment and well worth every penny!! As stated, this is not a cheap venue for food but the food quality and selection is excellent! We visited this pub for the first time for a midday lunch - we were so impressed that we immediately booked a table for the evening and the evening was superb - both in food, atmosphere and beer and wine!!

Mooring Description :
The BA 24 hour public moorings are more or less close by and if you are returning to the boat, it's adviseable to carry a torch if it's dark!!
Food Description :
Fantastic, superb, excellent value for money. There is a bit of a wait, maybe 20 minutes, as the food is freshly cooked all the time but trust me - it's well worth the wait!

Superb Again!

Not the first time the Kings Head has impressed! Friendly staff, a good 'pub' atmosphere & excellent imaginative food make this my personal Broads favourite for an evening. Highly recommended!

Mooring Description :
Adjacent to Coltishall Commom, arguably one of the nicest stretches of BA public moorings. In season, arrive early to grab a spot!
Food Description :
Excellent, imaginative food with friendly service. Not the cheapest on the river, but hardly extortionate for this level of quality.

4th visit to the Kings Head

On the previous three visits to the Kings Head we dined downstairs in the cosy if not a little cramped Bar area. Three real ales on, service excellent, staff helpful and polite. As a drinking pub I found it very cosy with some unusual bits and bobs around the walls to give it the correct ambience.

Mooring Description :
Out of season or when the water is high (I only need 6'6") moorings are plentiful and of good quality. During the season, get there early or you might end up at the anchor moorings, which although they are very nice and only a short walk into the village are currently £8 per night.
Food Description :
If you are looking for pub grub this is not the place. If you want something out of the ordinary then this is the place for you, anything from Partridge to belly pork served with an unusual selection of veg and presented whith a touch of style. Not too expensive either . On our last visit we had along our 5 month old Granddaughter and we ate upstairs in a cosy little dining room (probably 12 covers max)which had a large air con unit operating on a particularly hot day.
