normally not the place to be !,but,
;-
after leaving ranworth fete we (eventually) arrived at potter plenty of room in h.w. basin so in we went, moored next to classic duet from highcraft.
right says I chippie for tea, o.k. say the crew, off we trot. arrive at chippie queue a mile long so i said its time for a pint we'll come back later.
looking for an outside seat/table was hailed by bollotom,(hence classic duet) table problem solved, busy enjoying a pint(or three) and tom decides to order a meal for his grandchildren so I thought" here goes nothing" and ordered four meals(2 grandkids, daughter and myself)
we moved into the side room to eat and although the sevice may have been a little slow(we didn't really notice)the food when it arrived was freshly cooked, plentiful and very reasonably priced.£14.00 for four main meals is good value.
now this place gets a lot of bad reviews on here but on this occasion(and i'm sure tom will agree)i have nothing but praise.

regards mike

Hi Mike we also went to Broadshaven in July after failing to get a meal at the Falgate owing to it being fully booked. We found the food to be very nice, portions rather on the large side could not move afterwards. As you say service was a little slow but worth the wait Young waitress was very pleasant we will go back

Agreed. It is heartwarming to hear praise for an establishment which has had so much bad press in the past. Let's hope the Broadshaven has got its act together for good.

Couldn't agree more with young Mike. The atmosphere was good, the cider extremely palatable as was the lager the missus was quaffing. Service was pleasant, value for money and if they keep it up it could be the turnaround the Broadshaven needs. Good to see Mike and the kids/grandkids and managed to have a look at Bittern which seems to me to be underadvertised..or very popular anyway..Superb craft and very pleasing to the eye. Other establishments we visited seem to have improved overall in terms of product and service, though still some woeful ones.

Having just spent a week at potter i have to admit that, according to the wife, the steak & kidney pie was the best she has ever had!.This after having to drag her into the Broadshaven much against her will so i suppose a thank you to the Lion at Thure for not having any of our first FIVE choices available. The fish & chips was also excellent as was the manner of the overwork blonde haired waitress who actually seemed to care if you enjoyed your meal.Never thought i would be reccomending the pub but i am!
