We stopped at The Bridge Inn, Acle last week for the first time in 4 or 5 years. Unfortunately the moorings are not very good at present with no mooring posts and a lot of broken mooring rings along the main frontage. It does give the impression to passing boats that those boats moored up have been very selfish spreading themselves about not leaving room for more boats. However, that was the only downfall. The grass is nicely kept, the childrens play area is very good, they have catered for smokers (not that I am one!), the interior of the pub is lovely and the quality of food is excellent. We first thought that £9.50 for cod and chips was a bit steep but when we saw the size of the cod we changed our minds - it was huge to the extent that it was hanging off both sides of the plate! Good food, good beer, will come again but please sort out the moorings!  Cheers

Yes those rings, there are not enough of them and most of them are too small.

Phill is aware of this situation. Apparently there is to be some bank flood defence work carried out after the high season ends then the mooring fixings will no doubt be looked into at the same time.

Hi kevbloke,Just to let you know we had ten rings on the moorings replaced this week(good timing me thinks).
I was looking at them myself last week and due to increase in trade and ware and tear noticed we were looking a lot spaced out.
Thank you for your kind words on the rest of the pub its nice to get feedback like this!
Also Thankyou to my p a griff update is october for defence works when the bank will be raised but the plus point is we get great new moorings with lots of rings(hopefully)

We had a wonderful meal at the Acle Bridge Pub last night. Was Helen and Steves Wedding anniversary. We were made very welcome had lovely a lovely meal, and even though they were very busy we were not kept waiting. The staff were very attentive and friendly.
I could not help to notice how they kept outside, and the grassed areas clean. They were constantly going round with dust pans and brushes collecting cigarette butts from the floor. We had been in earlier in the day with the dog and had sat outside in this lovely setting. Our labradoodle was made very welcome also.
In my opinion well worth a visit.

cheers take care
Sue W

I suppose the best acolade with regards to the Bridge Inn

look back to three years ago . . . . . .

We used to avoid the place like a hot plague.

The one common denominator??

Phill, Ness, and the team the have put together.

As SueW said earlier had a great meal.  Even better and a MUST for those who love breakfast is to go in and have one here.  Best ever value a ready supply of coffee and orange juice available.  freshly cooked and hot what more can you ask to set yourselves up for your 1st Wedding Anniverary

We moored at the Bridge last Tuesday, 8th September and were amazed when Phil recognised us... our only previous visit was on the 22nd September 2008!!! He even remembered I'd used the wi-fi then...

Together with the excellent selection of real ales, scrumptious food, free wi-fi and Phil and Vanessa's warm welcome it won't be so long before we return!
