Well, a lot of money has been invested in the project, so the owner clearly thinks there is a gap in the market. The chef has worked at the White Horse at Neatishead, but I'm struggling to find anything that justifies the web site description of him being an "acclaimed" chef.

There is a website that is clearly still under construction, but no menu available yet.

Could I scrap my list and add lots and lots of Nadia Hussains.
She might like to do some Broadland classic bacon sarnies on a single burner hob, ;-)

Lots of people think that smoke, american, burgers and cuisine mean success, few understand the concept and even less can deliver. I hope this venture has some understanding of the market but honestly? I doubt it.

Seems a shame to be following down the same road as The Station Smokehouse. The Station Smokehouse has a head start and is very good, but not the best location, and can Wroxham and Hoveton support two such eateries? I wish them both well.

Just because The BA make a request, don't automatically assume they have the powers to make such requests!! Keeping a careful eye on an Authority which is making it's own rules.

They were still working on the outside of the building at the weekend. It's very prominent and this will, I am sure, be a useful aid to attracting customers.

Being so much bigger than the previous building I wonder what the noise nuisance will be to those in the row of houses next door,  which were  twice the distance away from the old single storey building with just a carpark in between. Add to that the large balcony on the second floor and the noise which will inevitably spread more easily than from windows,  and I do begin to wonder how on earth they got planning permission in the first place !

I do like to support local businesses on the whole,  and appreciate that those houses were close to a reasonably busy area anyway but I do feel that too often these days residential properties are overlooked (forgive the pun) in favour of business applications.

To be honest Keith, we've eaten at the Smokehouse a couple of times now and IMHO it's at best average. They are one of the establishments that I refer to when saying they don't understand the concept.

I would be sceptical about anyone offering an "American Diner" in this country. We just don't get the same quality and cuts of meat as they have in the USA or the variety of seafood either - certainly not at affordable prices.  Because of this, the fallback tends to be burgers, ribs, hot dogs and chicken which, frankly, you can get in many places over here. I will give it a go and hope to be proved wrong, but I'm not holding my breath.

Cheers

Steve
