Any information about the Hermitage most welcome. Also which is the best way to walk from the Bridge Inn moorings, road or riverbank.

I believe you have to pay to moor outside the Bridge Inn now, but if you do, then I would suggest the road is easier than the riverbank, there is a footpath that runs parallel to the road for most of the way.

Personally I would use the Hermitage moorings, £5 refundable on food, I have never yet been asked to pay. A pleasant walk alongside the Acle moorings and you reach The Hermitage. It's quite pleasant arriving mid afternoon, and taking a walk into Acle village, returning to the boat for a freshen up and then back to The Hermitage for the evening.

The Hermitage is mainly a fish restaurant, and serves excellent food, a well stocked bar and good service. Other dishes are available, but the fish is the best. There was a review of The Hermitage in last months Norfolk Afloat.

I had a look in there on Wednesday morning as I was staying at the Travel Lodge nearby.  Unless I am going blind (probably) there was no menu on display outside.  Because of this we did not even bother going there in the evening.  We had a few drinks at the Ferry in Horning and had a really good meal in the Bridge restaurant in Wroxham.

Can someone explain why a restaurant should be ignored because it has no outside menu?

Weird.

Well, some people may find it acutely embarrassing to have to leave having already been seated and then discovering that nothing on the menu was to their liking, or within their budget, or both.

Hi Neil,
good point but i must say this is one Spot On place to eat,
Perhaps next time you could just pop in and have a look at the menu ,or perhaps take one outside  then decide if you would like it.
One point if you use their moorings and walk to the pub it can be a bit muddy after a rain.a torch is needed after dark.
We like the walk from the Boatyard moorings, along the road,Romantic on a nice night Blooming cold in the winter.LOL.
