Marshman, Before you get too excited does The Ferry Inn have a new tenant, or does the existing tenant Ian Chin have a new landlord? If the auction of the freehold has been cancelled that would possible mean that a private sale has gone ahead for the freehold which would mean the tenant has a new landlord. Slightly confusing because of course the governor of a pub is also referred to as a landlord for licensing purposes, but could be just a tenant via a lease as opposed to owning the freehold.
Just because The BA make a request, don't automatically assume they have the powers to make such requests!! Keeping a careful eye on an Authority which is making it's own rules.

Yes I realise that but whatever has changed it is likely to bring improvement. Isn't it???

If the freehold has been sold and Ian Chin has a new landlord, then they would still have to honour his current lease until 2020 or try and buy him out. Depends on the intentions of the new freeholder, but potentially nothing may appear to change as far as the customers are concerned for some time.

The auction WASN'T cancelled and a friend of ours bid for and won the auction. And yes, the current tenant has until 2020.

I can only report what I was told Steve. So who is the new Landlord then? The manager didn't tell me.

Sorry Bill, I shouldn't have used caps, it made look like I was having a go at you. I've no doubt it will become common knowledge soon, but I can't say who it is at the moment.

Not at the moment Karen. It's only fair to point out that the improved rating has nothing to do with my friend buying the Ferry. By coincidence, he was looking round the place at the precise moment Miss Clipboard from Environmental Health was doing her inspection.

Ah, the very useful but much maligned clipboard.... . I will be very interested to know who the new owner is, as and when the info can become public. Karen
