Maybe this is a good time to start my now "annual" crusade to get the Forum Pub Guide updated as many entries are very out of date both the Pub info itself with very old pictures out of date phone numbers and web addresses and customer comments.
One Publican has already agreed to look at his entry so maybe if we all try to help in one way or another the Guide could be a better place by the Mayday holiday?

Hi, yes good call, I've recently posted a few comments from our travels last year. I actually haven't come across any pub that I wouldn't go back to, the general standard is pretty good, and for me , being a Londoner I find most food is always "norfolk portions", I.e loads of grub..

Just back from a few days on the northern rivers and I have to say that the standard of food was excellent everywhere we went.  I've put reviews for Kings Arms at Ludham Bridge,  New Inn Horning, and Stalham Swan on the Pub Guide.  We also had lunches at the Potter Tearoom and the café at Ranworth which were very good.  Also just a note to say that if you moor outside the Wroxham Hotel, although it cost £10 you now get that back if you spend £20 on food and drink.

Thank God Wroxham Hotel has woken up at long last and now offering a service to private boats that can not get under wroxham Bridge, will now be more than happy to use the mooring and pay as in the past we have spent more that the amount required and still had to pay a high price to moor up for a few hours.
Great new if its true will try it out very soon and report back Smile

Kindest Regards Mike

It's definitely true.  We stopped there on the morning of 29th March and when I went to reception to pay my £10, the receptionist give me a receipt and told me to show it at the bar if we wanted to order food and/or drinks and the £10 would be deducted from the bill as long as it came to £20 or more.  We enjoyed an excellent breakfast for 2 with teas and toast and after the deduction it came to a few pence over £10.

Another year and more new pub/restaurant owners amongst other changes. As mentioned by someone last year, a lot of these posts are long out of date. We'll be back on the water later this year after a two year break but in that time there have been changes to BA moorings, to boatyards, to pub & restaurant names, and to who runs them.

Will have to peruse these posts in detail before we arrive and gauge where we want to moor up when we eat out.

I gather The Swan at Stalham is still going strong, by far my favourite place on the Broads for a burger and pint at lunchtime (far better than the pretentiousness that was the Wayford Bridge Inn last time we were there but I gather their "celebrity chef" has moved on, so things may have improved). Never particularly liked the Lion at Thurne Dyke, so interesting to see what the new owners have made of it. Love the White Horse at Neatishead though!

Unfortunately I gather our favourite restaurant ever, Embrujo in Acle, closed in 2017 so there goes our starters, seafood paella for two, dessert, carafe of wine, and complimentary glass of Licor 43, all for under £50. Told him each time we went that he was undercharging. Food was so good that we would not have batted an eyelid if the bill had been double what it was. Made a special effort to go once they moved from the Stracey Arms site into the old Hermitage in Acle. I know it was not the fast food brigade's cup of tea but compared to the chaos of the New Inn at Horning it was delightful.

Won't have time nor favourable tides to cross Breydon this time, so Northern Broads only, but will be interesting to try out Pedros, since that is new since were were last in Norfolk, both at Acle and Horning. Changes too I gather at the Ferry Inn in Stokesby and the Lion as mentioned earlier.

I think the Ferry Inn at Horning has had different owners or been closed down every time we have been, so if open this year that will have to be tested out to see if there have been improvements. Certainly preferable to the gaming machines for kids approach and chaotic food service that characterised the New Inn last time we were there.

Last time we were on the river we actually got moored at Horning Staithe. That was a giant tick on the bucket list! If we get moored again will definitely go back to the Swan. Was nice to see a pub restaurant that really was dog friendly (and we don't have a dog, I may add).

I was going to end this post with the one place we would not be making the effort to return to but I see from TripAdvisor that it too has now closed. Although the food itself was fine, if nothing to write home about, the service and attitude at the Kings Arms Chinese in South Walsham did not at all impress. Not surprised it has gone!

Writing this has got me longing for the water. Roll on summer!

The link to the Pub Guide at the bottom left of the page is broken, I just get a Not Found error message.

I suspect not being available is the best option as even following my suggestion for some updates on several occasions most reviews were so out of date as to be positively unhelpful to both visitors and owners/managers. With the frequency of both ownership and staff changes and the popularity of specialised review websites since this was started without update at least twice a year we are better without.
"Spot" comments on a specific establishment would of course be helpful to users
