Music aside, the travel itinerary seems particularly onerous and I am not sure is achievable.

You are right that some of our music is a bit folky, but not generally the finger in your ear traditional unaccompanied singing about fox hunting and various vegetables type of folk. But in any event, I doubt very much that you will hear any grunge, garage or house from us! Particularly as all the music is, as it says in my post, acoustic and this doesn't tend to be 'loud' in any circumstances. We are not a 'band' as such. In fact most of the crew, who will be different people each week, will never have met before they are introduced to each other on the day that we set off. I know there will be a lot of comedy, some Irish music and some country as this is what I do. But the other crew members are from disparate parts of the country and with different musical tastes and backgrounds. All I can promise is that there will be a wide variety of genres of music performed in a very relaxed atmosphere and with a great deal of laughter.

Cheers, Neil

Hi Neil Lets hope the weather is kind to you, used to follow the River Rat's it was outstanding when out side but very cramped when inside.use to take own chair and four pint beer container as bar staff were usually overwelmed. One year half the village was serving behind the bar as Winkel was overcome with trade.Have you taken advice on your itinerary as you appear to be dodging back and forth over the same ground, perhaps you should add another week you could then include the New Inn at Rockland and the Locks at Gelderstone which both have large outside areias.Best of luck hope this will become a yearly event like the River Rats were. John

They will be hard pushed to achieve some of their itinerary and stick to the speed limits. Looking at tides
there are potential problems too. Unless they want to get up at crack of dawn after a night on the music!!!!

The longest journey I can see there is 6 to 7 hours. As it will be approaching the longest day when they are on board with perhaps 16 to 17 hours of daylight per day I really cannot see an issue with the cruising schedule. A boating holiday should be about the boating and the journey after all. Unlike the rats who normally do a lunchtime and evening session, this group are only doing evening sessions.

Welcome to the forum and I shall try and catch you at one of the venues at least.

Just because The BA make a request, don't automatically assume they have the powers to make such requests!! Keeping a careful eye on an Authority which is making it's own rules.

I have obtained journey times from both Broads Control and Nicholsons Guide. According to both sources the longest journey is 5.5 hours from Hoveton to Great Yarmouth. The next two longest journeys are from Loddon to Norwich and Burgh Castle to Beccles, both estimated at 5 hours each. I'm hoping that these estimations are right and therefore the journeys should be very 'doable'. Broads Control have also advised me with regard to departure times to coincide with the tide tables. There is one day when our departure window is between 7.30am and 9.30am, but all the others are quite reasonable. I'm just trusting to their experience.

Cheers, Neil

I note that  low tide on Sunday the 3rd at Hoveton is 10:51, at Yarmouth Yacht station is 07:21 and 19:53, So you are going to travel down river mostly against the tide. 5.5hours might be optimistic..
http://www.norfolk-broads.org/index.htm

Please also note:
Starting at 11:00 on 2nd June at Horning is the 3 Rivers Race, with the last boats finishing at Horning at 12:30 on Sunday 3rd, there will be about 100 yachts and dinghies racing for up to 24hours on the northern broads. The route includes from Horning down under Acle Bridge, and for a few miles beyond and back.
So your travelling down river on the Sunday Morning will be enlivened by lots of sailing boats, unless there is a strong wind and they've all finished..

Now to see if there is a date I can attend somewhere...
