On the 22nd of may The hire company known as Barnes Brinkcraft let 1 of there boats to a stag party, The boat in question is Barnes Romany 1.

The vessel shortly after crashing into mine while under power after the helmsman lost control was found abandoned down river.

I have made a full report to the Broads Authority and have been in talks with Barnes who are now doing nothing.
I'm left with about £500 in damages to my boat.

cheers Barnes Brinkcraft.   Mad

"Hi" Kovert Surly this can not be right that Barnes are washing there hands of it ? what is your insurance company doing about it ? may be you need to go in and talk with the manager or even get the Broads Police involved only this sounds very much like a hit & run and Barnes must have the details of who hired the boat even if it is only for the day.  Confused

Kindest Regards Mike

I've emailed the manager of Barnes several times over the last week only to be ignored.

The fact that I was moored up at the time only compounds this problem.

If the hire companies are not going to take responsibility for their craft then what does that mean for the rest of us?

It only takes 1 hit and run for them to get away with it for the other collisions that may happen by people that are drunk on a boat.

Barnes actually ADVERTISE for Stag and Hen Parties !!!
http://www.barnesbrinkcraft.co.uk/hen-and-stag-parties/

Whilst many 'responsible' yards avoid large all male or large all female hires, Barnes seem to be going out of their way to attract them!!

We became sandwiched between two rowdy boatloads hurling water bottles at each other. I was just picking up the camera when who should come gliding round the corner in the opposite direction???
A Broads Patrol Boat.  LOL  LOL  LOL

The blue light was switched on! Hands came out of the window ordering both boats to stop! We left them to it !!!

Edited to add -> I've emailed the manager of Barnes several times over the last week only to be ignored.
Don't email . .  GO THERE IN PERSON - preferably not on your own but with a 'witness' Take photographs of the damage and full details of the incident.

Simply STAY there in the office until you reach a satisfactory conclusion with them. If they threaten you with the Police to remove you say "Fine, I'll wait! That will look good in the newspapers!"

Be polite but firm

Good luck!

All the best.

Surely the obvious thing is to involve your insurance company?

In these circumstances why not use your insurance company to do the work? I would always get my boat assessed by another yard and probably get them to do the work and leave the insurers to sort out the rest - isn't that what your insurance companies do?
