As it's January and last year I started a habit of asking this question early...

Who'll be entering the Three Rivers Race this year?  Remember the organisers are a expecting a bumper entry this time as it's the Golden Jubilee year, so get your applications in early!

After my first triumphant finish last year I'm expecting my 2009 crew to be aboard again.

I'm working hard on that 2009 report right now. It should be ready in a couple of weeks or so. If you're not familiar with the Three Rivers Race, there's a description at:
http://www.gregafloat.plus.com/seahawk/3rr.html
where you'll also find links to the reports on my two previous attempts.

Tide times and moon phase are rather different from any of my previous attempts, however, at least it should not be as dark as 2008, when "Imagination" decided to head up Thurne Dyke as it was spot on closing time and the lights had a kind of siren effect on my helmsman.

Any chance of this thread being made a sticky again?

Well done Greg - there's "early" and there's "very, very early" and I think you've picked the second choice. Happy New Year to you! Looking forward to 3RR 2010 already!
Sue

Hi Sue,

People will begin to think we've got this all planned. You were first to respond last year as well. You didn't complain then about being early with the question.

P.S.
I'm only four days earlier than last year!

Greg, not complaining at all.  It's nice to see such enthusiasm for the race and it obviously takes a lot of planning, so best to start early!  Smile

Waif entering again this year. Hopefully I will avoid other boats on the Ant.

The next best thing to sailing is getting ready to go

ZTD,

Start Horning and then, in any order:

Hickling (far side)
Lower Bure (normally Stracey)
Ant (below Ludham Bridge)
South Walsham Broad (or Fleet dyke towards the broad).

Mayhem normally starts at 1100 on the allotted day, Waif retires by 1500 and I take as long to get from the mouth of the Ant back to Horning as I do to get round the rest of the course Playful Wink

Tut, tut! It means you haven't read the link I provided:
http://www.gregafloat.plus.com/seahawk/3rr.html

Let me know if you need more detail and I'll add it.

You never know I might even be persuaded to use the threeriversrace.org.uk domain that I have and upload it there.

Greg, what a good idea re the 3RR.org website.  It would be great to have a definitive website for those of us who are keen followers of the race but are unable to participate.
