Just a quick heads up to Forum members that might be interested-One of the owners on Evening Shadow is looking to downsize from 4 weeks to 2weeks per year and there is currently a 2 week share up for sale. Asking price is £2500. I waited ages for a 2 week share to become available before I bought mine and I am only aware of one further 2 week share being for sale on another boat since I bought mine.
The weeks have already been drawn for the next 2 years so you will be able to plan ahead and this share would join up with the current owners who will also currently retain 4% of the boat. I assume your weeks will alternate between Summer and Winter and then Spring and Autumn with the current owners. We currently have two 8% shares that are split between different owners so this is quite standard and easily manageable.
The annual cost for 4% share is £610 so even over the next 2 years you would have 4 weeks afloat for about £3700 and 6 weeks over 3 years for £4900. The share remains yours to sell as and when you wish (this is not a timeshare!) and you are free to pick up any unused weeks just like any other owner (there are 2 weeks unused next month…) and you would only need to pay for diesel and a pump out.
There is also an 8% share available if you are interested.
If you are interested I suggest you give Andrew a call at BCBM on 01270 628 076
If you do have any questions drop them on to this thread and I will revisit and try to answer them.
There are Pictures of Evening Shadow and further information on the links below.
The dates that have already been drawn for this share are:
26th Feb 2011 4th June 2011 12th Nov 2011 3rd Dec 2011 19th May 2012 18th Aug 2012 22nd Sep 2012
As a 4% owner you would alternate on these weeks from Summer and Winter one year to Spring and Summer the next.
To Hire Grande Girl from Summercraft (Same Style boat) for the weeks you could be using the Boat would cost: 4th June 2011-£1010 3rd Dec 2011-£697 (based upon cheapest price in Hoseasons brochure-No prices past Nov!) 19th May 2011-£886 (2011 price) 22nd Sep 2011-£886 (2011 price) Total £3479 before any yard extras.
For Evening Shadow £2500 to purchase your share (yours to sell again) plus £600 per year to maintain the boat-£3700
The share would pretty much have paid for its self over this period and obviously you can carry on for future years with just the maintenance fees to pay or you could sell your share whenever you wish.
Hi Matt. Researching as we are caravan owners at the minute but depending on work next year contemplating selling up and going for a boat share. Can you go through your figures for me as you use 4 weeks holiday prices to put your point but a 4% share is only 2 weeks or am i reading incorrectly? Could you confirm for me the annual cost for a full 8% or a half 4% share. Many thanks Bill
For my 2 week share I have a monthly direct debit of £51.50. This includes contributing to a pot for the winter maintenance and over the last two years there has been no more to pay and this also covers the management fees. Obviously for a 4 week share the costs double!
If you go to the BCBM website BCBM SHARE SALES and click on the relevant boat you can view the running costs for each boat.
There are currently only 3 boats shown as they are the only ones with shares available.
Feel free to post any onther questions and I will do my best.
