well done robin (londonrascal), a great holiday tale

but more important i see you are now a bathtub convert,

and fully aware of all the reasons many holiday makers

go for this type of boat  Smile  Wink

the thread has had 852 viewings to date so all good

Thank you for the compliments, I did think this weekend away would be boring and with very little to talk of and show - funny how after the event it seems I did a lot and made for a good write up.

I am torn between bath tubs you see.

I have to confess, I don't like how they look externally and I don't like being so low down and everything that passes you by appears so much larger.

But I do like the practical 'square' internal layout, the fact there is places for drawers and full height cupboards to be put.  I like the single floor level and on the boat I had the engine outside.

Above all I like the value for money.

I've been looking at a few options because I have a 20% discount with Richardson's if I book direct with them for a second holiday this year.  Do I go for height and better looks of Contessa - or go for practical comfort and cheapness of Clear Gem?  I could have Clear Gem for 11 days for less than the cost of 7 on Contessa.

My personal preferred boat type is Centre Cockpit - but it seems likely that if (I can get time off) in October some of the time I'll be on my own waiting for others to join me - it therefore has to be something I can handle and moor with ease and something I can afford.

Therefore increasingly I am being slowly sucked into bath tub hirering and it feels a bit wrong Wink

while i agree the bathtubs are not eye candy
they are very practical
and as i often take aged relatives with me
the all on one level layout is a must
also most of my boating is solo
and i find the bathtubs a doddle
my next holiday in october i have concerto
which is just perfect and 240 volts
cant wait......

yes,  they are a very practical boat,  although some
may say i am bias, because i have one

before the bathtub i had a centre cockpit cruiser
so i know the plus and minus points of both,  in my
case it is because i am getting on in years and these
boats are easy to handle plus loads of room inside

20% discount sounds like good news.  11 days on
a bathtub for the price of 7 on a centre cockpit,
well,  i know which boat i would be having

I have been on bathtubs for the past 10 years, they are great.
I look for one with the helm on the port side, the main corridor on the port side, then you can look out of the rear door window to see what's behind, your rear view camera is a great idea.
I know it is which way the prop turns but I have found that most hire boats turn to port best which is useful in tight spaces.

I've got a 'baby bathtub' lovely - so sweet, sorta cute; beggar going backwards though! I'm thinking about Rascal's camera.
Bathtubs for ever......
