Are the 2 liverboards still moored at Stalham Green? We were there 2 weeks ago, the place looked like a tip or as my wife says, "rather unsightly" Do these boats have river tax, boat safety, and insurance? if not should they even be in the water.

sadie, if a boat owner hasn't paid a toll, got a BSS certificate or insurance, the only thing the BA can do is take out a prosecution. They are only empowered to remove a boat if it is dangerous or likely to cause pollution (see Ss 17, 18 and 19 Broads Authority Act 2009).

Did you make any report to the BA about the boats? I am confident the local rangers are aware of the situation, but any action that may be being taken will not be visible to the public, and can take a while to be effective. A quick phone call to the BA will get an answer to your questions.

Hi Sadie Your right i have never been able to moor there they appear to stay a day then move to lime kiln dyk then to sutton then back to stalham so technically i guess they only stay for 24 hrs. thank goodness for Richardson's for allowing private boats to moor otherwise wouldn't be able to shop at Tesco or shops in Stalham, would have to get a taxi from Sutton John

There were a couple of junk heaps just above Ludham bridge yesterday pm. I guess these might be those to which you refer.

Unfortunately taking the p*ss is not an offence, it probably should be in this instance.

Pelican changed owners not long ago and last years toll was outstanding so I guess this years is still to be paid. I have not seen these boats. Any pictures to backup the complaints.
Pelican use to be here on Thorpe Island about 9 years ago but he was asked to leave. I think he got towed off in the end.

Stalham Staithe is not a Broads Authority mooring. Not sure what they can do. It belongs to the toen council I think. boat-sail
