We like the carvery at the wherry hotel but we've struggled to find a decent curry house that delivers. Last time out we had one from the restaurant that is in the old railway station building but I can't remember the name sorry.
We told them the name of our boat and a description of it then moored up by the marina office and they dropped it off and my wife dished it out while I moved the boat back up to the mooring just outside the broad. Something tea room mooring?

We had Sunday Lunch at the Red Herring a few weeks ago, I had the Lamb and I have to say it was one of the best Sunday lunchs we’ve had for years.
The Commodore is still not bad but a limited menu and a bit pricey for what you get IMO of course.
If you want to push the boat out the Crooked Barn Restaurant at the Ivy House Hotel is really good.
The Broadivew Wine Bar has some tasty snacks and is reasonably priced and their Cheese platter is great value and goes down well with a bottle of plonk.
The Copper Smoke House isn’t bad if you like that sort of thing, which I do.

And for a takeaway, Flames does a great Kebab.
Sadly thre Chippy on Bridge Road has now closed

Lots of ch

if it is to be it is up to me.

Agree with all the above........We walked past the chippy last Friday and were pleased to see that it was open again under new management.

Left it up to ere indoors and wound up at the Wherry, don't enjoy carverys personally and tried the 1/2 rottisery chicken fully expecting a crispy piece of dark brown chicken, instead I was served a piece of chicken that I thought had been skinned until a closer inspection revealed it was still wearing the skin, it looked dreadful but fortunately tasted a lot better than it looked...
Think boiled rather than spit roasted...
Eating in Oulton again tonight but NOT at the Wherry

The Red Herring has sadly closed a great pity.

The chippy by the Spar is now called Fast Foodies but I've yet to see it open. The opening hours seem to be all over the place, but the word is that the food is good, and great chips.

The Copper Smokehouse is worth a visit.

The Waveney is under new management, same owners as the Commodore, as a sports bar, can be very loud. good food but very pricey for what you get. £9 for a bacon butty??

The Wherry is a carvery and microwave place with high drink prices and staff with  smiles that are more suited to abitore staff.

The Commodore do good food and drinks.

Flames is under new management I've eaten there twice. Never again.

The chippy up Bridge road close to what was the wine lodge is very good.

If you keep going towards the railway station the Indian Labone is very, very good.

The Magic Wok is a bit hit and miss, depending on when you go there. If you order something different, like anything with udon noodles it will be great. If you have the special fried rice it might be re-heated.

I should also add that this fantastic Diner called On A Roll can deliver food to you any day. So long as you order by 2pm, and the only delivery time is 3pm, but you can get anything from a bacon roll, a homemade burger, Burrito, Southern Fried Chicken, Caesar Salads, Philly Cheese Steaks and loads more. Call 078836 45292 for more details.
