I hope this little thread will be the joint tale of our (goodfortune and SternMoor) first week on the boatshare boat Moonlight Shadow (38') instead of hire boat Opal Emblem (24').  We'll be travelling down on Friday evening and hope not too have much trouble sorting ourselves out the first night as Gentleman John of BCBM has been asked to arrange for the motor to be run for a while so we can have heat and light and so on, though I suspect after a cross country journey on a Friday evening from the "other" coast it will not be a late night!

HOWEVER, I realised a few days ago that we might have overlooked something!  No key!  The keys arrived today and have now been reverently placed upon the hallowed Norfolk Broads Forum floating keyring (thank you Richard), and the logos were printed off today, which prompted me to start this thread.

I'm hoping we will each record our thoughts and you will be regaled by our different "takes" on the same cruise.

No laptop, no mobile broadband, for the duration - hurrah, a real rest!

Lisa,

I hope you have a cracking time.

Is there no shore power at the mooring? This would save running the engine....

Hope you have a lovely time and look forward to hearing your tale once you return.

Wouldn't have wanted to be on a boat today though - not nice weather!!!

Hi Matt, the answer to that is I'm not sure!  Actually we asked for one or the other, running the engine or getting us an electricity card, we don't mind either.

And Liz, I couldn't agree with you more!  It's been pretty wild on this side today too, I must have gone two steps forward to one back on the dog walks today.

Enjoy Lisa, luxuriate in the extra 13".

I hope everything goes well and you have a fine time, remember it gets dark really quickly. All you have to do now is put on the Nav lights...

Take notes we want to hear all about it.

Life is too short

Ha!  A whole 14 extra feet Martin!  That extra foot counts!

Remembering his boating days long ago in Singapore, SternMoor (Keith) reckons navlights won't help him much as he's colourblind and hasn't a hope of knowing if a vessel is approaching or cruising away, not being able to tell whether a light is red or green! (Just don't ask about Breydon, lol)

It will be a grand adventure!

Lis

ps somebody get a point for me on the quiz please!   LOL

Have a great time Lisa and I look forward to reading the holiday tale on your return.

Had my break in Norfolk back in October and can't wait for next time.

All the best

Arthur

Griff, you've got me there!  Must confess that I had such a rubbish day at work today I seriously considered "throwing a sickie" and suggesting we just take off!  (Moonlight isn't being used this week.)  But then sense was regained and the ramifications of such an irresponsible act to the "Big Society" (and my paypacket) were considered and I'm still here, probably until after work on Friday (but an early dart is a serious posibility, hope the M62 behaves).

Ranoe (Maurice), give me a ring if you feel you fancy a short cruise Wednesday (or thereabouts) and showing us your favourite lunch spot.  But you'll have to give us a few tips from your long experience on the water in return, haha!

Cheers chaps,

Lisa Smile
