In my madness I picked up what I think is a  Richardson roving gem generation 4 she had been sunk and striped out by her last owner so I would like to get some photos of how she used to look inside and see if any of the superstructure has been removed. I hope to adapted the boat to take wheelchairs so it will be a total refit I just want to make sure she will not be weakened.
Some photos in the link below, Don't laugh please Smile
Cheers

There is an external photo on Craig's web site here http://www.broads.org.uk/wiki/index.php5?title=Boats_matching_search&RegNo=&bname=&aand=EQ&tand=EQ&quicksearch=roving_gem

Have you tried contacting Richardson's. They may have some internal photos that were used in the brochures of that time.

Fergal, I can't tell you anything about the original layout, but what I can tell you is that she was built on a Seamaster 30 hull. That is a great hull for stability, handling and strength, so you are off to a good start.

Thanks Steve thats a great help looking at some photos of the seamaster the forward section look very alike to mine so I should be able to get a good idea for a layout from them.

Thanks for your help.

great project, read the blog and its coming along nicely. have you considered trying to source a wheelchair lift from a people carrier? the imported Nissan elgrand sometimes have wheelchair lifts for the passenger - these are often removed when they come to the uk. it might be something you could adapt ? when I was considering converting a van to a camper a while ago, I used to see them come up on ebay

I needed the hydraulic ram to go below deck in a tight space so the tilt trim ram was my best option, the ones for vans all seem to have the rams on top and are a bit unsightly plus they are not cheep. I will be looking for something like a scooter hoist from a car to lift from the wheelchair to the bed.

Thanks for your help.

the lift I was talking about is like a hi ab type of lift as opposed to a rise and fall platform. in my short time on the broads I have been surprised by the rise and fall of the water levels due to tides, so my suggestion might overcome that, if it can be sorted. it would just lift the chair off the bank and onto the boat, with no need for a rise and fall ramp/platform
