Until now the only ways to get from Oulton Broad into Lowestoft was Train, taxi or walk. Now a new venture has started offering a water taxi from OB to the Royal Norfolk & Suffolk Yacht Club. Check their website http://www.lowestoftwatertaxi.co.uk/ for more information.

We hope to be up and running very soon. Tickets will be £3.50 each way and the taxi will run between 9am-5pm and it will run approximately every hour and half. If there is a demand for commuters looking to use the taxi earlier or later we would be happy to look a the option if it was viable.

I would love to see this do well. However I have a few observations (which I hope will be helpful)
Starting at 9 and finishing at 5 means it cannot be a useful resource for the majority of people travelling for work. Would another hour earlier and later actually generate significant local custom? In a similar vein I would be unlikely to use it myself as it stands ass daytime is for sailing. I could see value in an evening service to go into Lowestoft for a pub or restaurant. That I would use. I'm not sure about the description "Water Taxi." To me a water taxi is a service that can be summoned on demand to take you from your boat to a destination ashore. I think here of the water taxi service in Dartmouth, St Peter Port, Braye and others. A more accurate description would seem to be "Ferry" or "Water Bus"
Just a few observations that I hope are helpful. All the best, I hope it succeeds. Robin www.robin.me.uk "Posthabui tamen illorum mea seria ludo"

Hello Robin, Many thanks for you suggestions. We did think long and hard on the name and what to call it and wanted to use the "taxi" in the title as it gives us the flexibility should we need to drop/pick up passengers on boats as well. We would look at stopping other places and operating longer hours should there be the opportunity . At the moment we are working things out and open to suggestions. We will also be available for charter Thanks Jamie
