"The design truly deserves comercial success."

Yes, the more diversity of vessels on the Broads, the better. Perhaps we'll be seeing Dad's Boat races before too long.

I'd like to think so...

We originally did the Wroxham - Norwich jaunt in Cyclone, the original 2 seater, in 1998 and made several appearances in the press and local TV.

At the time the Broads Society ran a 'Green Boat' event annually, and our trip prompted a suggestion that the evnt could be extended to include some frolics for man-powered craft.

Suitably enthused David (of what's become Dad's Boats) built a rather sleeker craft, called Cyclamen...which is how we shaved a couple of hours off the long trip....although for various reasons the actual frolic never materialised.

Cyclamen was (is) a super craft, but arguably a little 'tender' for the general non-boaty user, so was eventualy developed into The Pedal Boat as currently available....including some seriously comfy seatsin place of the almost camping deckchairs of the original boats.

They're perhaps not the cheapest way to get on the water, but given the huge amount of development work which has been put in, and the cost of building anything these days, I think the rental price (and purchase price, as they'll build you one if you ask) is extremely  reasonable....like I said, after sailing, the best fun you can have with your clothes on  LOL

Perhaps it could be fitted with a small sail, to assist when going up-hill, a bit like the pedal-assisted electric bikes  tounge-in-cheek

Thank you Coriolis, really interesting to hear of your adventures on the Pedal Boat.

I too am a sailor and I have to admit I was initially dubious about a pedal-powered craft.. but was very pleasantly surprised by this boat. I sat down and started pedaling and couldn't help a huge smile spreading across my face! I love it and would really like to do a longer trip!

And certainly on this version - you can put your feet on the pedals and do pretty much nothing - so it looks like you're pedaling but actually it's the other person doing all the work...
