I'm looking for a Perkins 4108 starter motor if anyone has one either working or not please contact me, many thanks.

P.S i know it's a long shot as these are getting hard to come by !!.

Tried
Richardson @ Stalham.
Wayford Bridge (sadly Jons left/given the push i dont know)
Bridge Stores St Olaves.
and many more boat yards in Norfolk and Suffolk.

Perkins 4108 or 4107 possibly.

3 stud inertia drive possibly an M45G LRS160.

I know they have them for sale on Ebay new, but i cant afford that kind of money !!

Have a word with Boulders at Horning. They had a 4108 starterrefurbished for me. For whatever reason it was way cheaper than an exchange recon one. Was about 8 years ago but no reason for things to have changed. Was only away for a couple of days

I may have misunderstood your request and have assumed you have a faulty one which of course may not be the case

Hi Underway Are you sure it's an inertia starter most unusual for a diesel more likely a pre engaged type for diesels, most inertia are two stud/bolt pre engage are mostly three stud /bolt.Both are easy to refurbish just take to a auto electrician for a refurbish. Just a thought why do you think you want a new starter, what are your systems,if it just clicks when starter button pushed all it needs providing not a dirty terminal, is a relay that sits on top providing its pre engage of cause if it just hums/spins just needs a clean on inertia slide, have you checked the earth strap?, have you tried to give it a thump with a lump of wood when you hit the starter button! if it then works just needs a clean and dry lubrication on shaft. 'Afternoon, underway ....

As Gordon mentioned, give Sonny Boulter a call on 01692 630498 - I think you'll find he has both new and not working Perkins 4108 starter motors in at present.

Good luck.

Steve.

Hi Underway I have just had a phone call from my parts supplier and mentiand your starter problem and he confirmed that a LRS 160 is a pre engaged starter and are still available from a firm in Basildon, they only deal with the trade, may be that's where Boulter's get theres from, if not local go to your local auto electricians who can deal with them.John
