I can't help but wonder whether the attempt at providing more detail about the boats, is worth the effort. All the extra information is only of value if it's correct.

For example, my previous boat is listed as having a single 1600cc engine. In fact it has 2 x 1500cc engines.

My current boat isn't listed, but I'm not too surprised as she only came on to the Broads from France in June.

We're happily take advice on any air-drafts!

May seem a little odd we added this but air drafts air published on the hire websites.

One of the apps we've planned will tell hirers if their boat identified by reg will fit under a bridge as we maintain a list of bridge heights and air draft and boat air drafts.

Hi Steve51,

Thanks for visiting the website!

With regards to the engine size this is publicly supplied information, but if you find any inaccuracies we will update them as we are keen to get accurate details.

If you could also let us know about your new boat we would like to add it!

Quote " Hey my boats got an airdraft of 0ft, that'll make easy to get under Potter!"

Or it might be another way of telling you ... your boat has sunk lol...

best regards, Richard.

Can't wait to be back on our boat on

Just looked ours up as well. Lots of mistakes and we have 0 height as well that will be good next time we are up to get under some bridges.

One thought. I would not think that advising people about the ability of a particular boat being able to pass under a specific bridge or set of bridges, as you will be making yourself liable to legal action if that boat ends up in trouble getting under a bridge.

Most hire craft will have to use a pilot at particular bridges. The pilots have a list of boat airdrafts, and have the final say about passing under a bridge.

Thanks for your advice waterbuoy!

We've seen plenty of pictures this year of boats stuck under Yarmouth Bridges. Don't want to add to anymore Smile

No one has asked this question yet, but who is behind this venture?

A business connected with the Broads?
A group of enthusiastic members?

How is the venture funded?

Basically...
What's in it for you?

There must be quite a cost in setting up a new website, and maintaining accurate information.

How did all this get started?

Good luck with the new venture, I have had a look around, and I look forward to visiting the site again, as the site develops.

best regards, Richard.

Hi and thanks for visiting,

There is significant work in setting up and maintaining a site. Basically I am an enthusiastic boater and helped by some friends on the Norfolk Broads. I am trying to provide the information we all need and want in an easy to read format, notices, tides, news events and more information on that boat cruising down the river!

As with many broads websites there is no commercial gain and as you can see from the nature of the site there are no paid sections and unfortunately self funded Frown

Due to the nature of security and registration compliance you will see the name of my company used if you dig deeply into the workings of the website.
This is essentially as these are registered with the Information Commissioner (IOC) as every UK site should be and carries relevant insurance policies. I take security very seriously.

The website and mobile apps allows playing about with different technology whilst hopefully being interesting to our visitors.

Enjoy visiting!
