Could be transomware! Shame because there are some presenters over there who do interesting documentaries which may have a different slant on what's going on over here.

Hopefully not the end of the thread for them.

Hi

Just been onto the NBN, no problems now, someone had posted just a few minutes ago.

Must have been gremlins in the works.

John.

Kind regards, John(Captain

Not so much gremlins, but a change of admin staff, it seems.

Would I be right in thinking that someone trying to join this forum would not be able to use a name which was already in existence? If that is right then I think I may have possibly saved this forum a lot of nastiness.  Smile

I may be corrected by the hamster (ouch!), but my understanding is that forum etiquette, on any forum not just this one, requires each member to select a unique user name. This avoids the confusion that would be caused by a plethora of members called, for example, John. So there should only ever be one 'Dreamer' on any particular forum.

It never ceases to confuse me when, on some forums (even this one occasionally), a member is referred to by his/her given name. Great if you happen to know what that is, but it usually involves me going back through posts to find out who the heck has just been replied, or referred, to.

Hence you will never find me referring to a member by other than his/her user name (although sometime I'll refer to a frequent poster by initals (eg TerryTibbs = TT), if I am replying to a post they've just made.

'That' poster could have easily chosen a unique name and posted on here. I suspect he had a different agenda, though.

But, as far as I am concerned, there is only one Dreamer!  Cheers and everyone knows which is the fake.

I too only use user names rather than real ones to avoid confusion.
Paladine is correct that there can only be one person using a particular user name. When my former guise of Exile became unusable for technical reasons I tried to re register under that name. The site very firmly informed me that name was already in use so not available...

I'd love the chance to correct you Mr Paladine but your research is always spot on. Smile

As you say, only one username on the forum.

Hope that helps John. LOL
