Hi

After 11 weeks of hard work and headaches I can finally announce the launch of the Broadland Memories archive website!

http://www.broadlandmemories.co.uk

It’s not quite as finished as I’d wanted it to be before launch, but the research and writing is continuing and the website will be updated as soon as I get the articles finished. I still have some photographs to process and put in to the galleries but have been concentrating on trying to get as much of the history completed as possible. I have managed to get quite a few pictures on there already, along with the holiday tales and memories which have been submitted so far, so there is a good bit to look through on there now.

Many, many thanks to all those who have contributed so far and also to those who have promised to send me written and photographic items ….. I shall get round to nagging you for those soon!!   Playful Wink

It is my sincere hope, now the website has been launched, that more people will offer contributions to the archive – it really is so important to preserve all of these photographs and personal memories of Broadland before they are lost. I hope that this will also be a useful educational tool on the social history of the Broadland holiday industry – I have to say that I have found the research so far quite fascinating but the personal stories are what really bring that history to life! What started out as wanting to provide a brief overview of the eras seems to have turned into somewhat of an epic but I hope that you will find it interesting and learn a little along the way.

If you have any photographs or personal stories/memories of holidays on the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads during the 20th century, or if you have lived or worked in Broadland and have some interesting tales to tell then please, please, please get in contact with me – I need your help to enable the archive to grow.

Many thanks

Carol

Hello Carol

I’ve been looking forward to the launch of you web site for a few weeks now.  I did intend to sort out some of my old photographs and send them over to you, but unfortunately I have been a little busy.

Congratulations you have produced an excellent piece of work, it’s good to see someone promoting the Broads in a positive way. I’m sure you will get lots of visitors.

Blake

Fantastic.
Memories of how it used to be, and could be again.

As opposed to the Broads Authority, you mean?

Carol, excellent work & I hope you manage to keep building upon it.
