". This was cast onto our boat when we were moored up a couple of years bac"

One or the other masy have been cast onto your boat Bob but not both together as they are 2 completely different types of Angling and would not be used together. If you did find them like that maybe an Angler put them there while sorting out his tackle and forgot to pick them up?

Dave

if it is to be it is up to me.

I have to agree with fordspark1952, "its the ill informed and a very small minority that spoils it for others". I have been fishing the Broads for 44 years at least one week per year and cannot understand why some of the so called anglers have to get into conflict with other users, its simple, follow the rules and use some common sense, obey the closed season and respect those that call it their home. I suggest that if they cannot conform they should go elsewhere. I'm back at the end of the month with my grown up family which means I won't be fishing but I'll be back again in September with my son for a weeks fishing and we will be as far from civilisation as we can get and as close to nature as she will allow us.

Re The photo that I posted, do you think that I made the kit up myself for effect ? .

It is possible that it was made up by the person using it.

It landed on the boat canopy  when we were at a wild mooring below Irstead.  It came from a boat moored some way away with a bunch ‘young  fishermen’ trying to cast as far from the boat as possible , sometimes to the opposite bank. After they hit us they vamoosed a bit quickly. I still have the dammed thing if you want it.

Best Regards

Bob
