I see Barnes Brinkcraft introduced a new boat (Brinks Rhapsody Electric Hybrid) to their fleet this year.
The boat looks superb but what I don’t understand is why a fuel deposit of £200 is required when the boat is powered by electric. I would have expected an electric powered boat to be far more economical than a traditional cruiser.
I understand that fuel is required for a back up generator but would have thought this to be minimal.
In addition to the fuel I assume power usage would be significant when using the shore power to recharge the batteries.
Has anyone hired this boat and if so could you please post your experience of running costs?
I have some limited experience of this type of propulsion and if done right it can offer huge economies over traditional diesel propulsion but the problem is there are so many different ways of configuring and controlling such a system it is impossible to know exactly what to expect.
