Thought id share my Eberspacher heater troubles with you all and maybe save someone a few quid !!

My Eberspacher D2 started blowing thick white smoke out of the exhaust and wouldn't run,

So here is what i did to fix it-

Firstly i made sure the heater was cold and not running, i disconnected the exhaust silencer attached the misses hover to exhaust pipe...don't tell her !! and sucked all the nasty built carbon from the heater. i then cleaned the filter in the fuel pump after refitting i disconnected the fuel line and placed it in a can of paraffin and ran the heater flat out for an hour or so on paraffin.

And now the ole heater is running like a dream !!

Worked for me and save either me stripping the heater out or paying someone to do it.

As with all things found on internet forums carry this out at your own risk

Are you using Biodiesel?  F A M E free Diesel is better and less likely to get diesel bug. John

Good point,

Most red diesel (75% if you believe the D P of T) is  F A M E free, my supplier guarantees to only supply   F A M E free so no problems with F A M E soaking up moisture and getting diesel bug.

All boater should ask the suppliers to verify the fuel they sell so they dont get caught out.
