Thanks John, that's a useful sort of pointer.  Any advice on possible suppliers at that price?

Hi Jeremy i would google car/van batteries Euro car parts is one,Multi power in Norwich,or any local car parts suppliers would do, there is Lucas,Bosch Varter plus more quality makes
from one year warranty to four years warranty, are available with prices to suit,a 65 to 75 amp 600/700 cranking amps/cca will be suitable for a four cylinder diesel, the easier it starts from cold the less cca is needed a BMC diesel which tends to not start first turn of the starter would need a higher cca,car batteries  are sealed so could be delivered to your door.Scrap price is £4 to £5 =£300=00 per ton weight.John

Jeremy do a search on line for "Tayna", they deliver batteries at a very reasonable price, and have a vast range..
very good packaging they use too..

Jeremy I have just had a thought you need to check which orientation the terminals are be for you order, car batteries have two just like leisure batteries do for standard round terminals there ie smaller round and screwed as well, they would normally be ordered by model and make of car/van if your cables are fitted you will need to get one with the same ie + on right say and neg on left or vis verser as your existing one, car batteries also will be shorter which won't matter.John

Surely it’s worth paying another £10 or so to support the Broadland traders. Eg Boulters
