Which one or the two works every time with loads of bars?

I'm only interested in finding out about Loddon at the staithe and within 400 yards of it at river level.

Looking to get mobile broadband, so that I can work in-between coats of paint.

We have always found Loddon a bit of a dead spot for the mobile.  Couldn't get an O2 signal at all back in June this year, the year before I was with T mobile, that didn't work either. Frown

Loddon Staithe does indeed seem to be pretty poor when trying to use a mobile. I have one on the Tesco network (which I believe uses O2's network) and I managed to get JUST about enough of a signal to send a text by standing on the bench nearest to the water hose and waving my arm frantically in the air, whilst simultaniously jumping up and down! There was no way that I could make or recieve a phone call with it.

The other mobile is Vodaphone (which usually seems to guve me the best coverage on the Broads) and I got 1 or 2 bars at most at the staithe .... and that was extremely intermittent.

I thought that Loddon had a free wi-fi hotspot within range of the staithe at one time ... or has that gone now?

There is only one network that will work properly in Loddon with good coverage and that's Orange.

The mast is situated on the industrial estate near the bypass where as the 02 & Vodafone site is at Loddon Ingloss water tower.

Will check tomorrow if the Norfolk Openlink is still working via the Six lamp posts situated between the Angel pub & Rosy Lee's Tea Room.

Did once get a Vodafone 3G data card to work in one of the boatyards but it was very hit & miss even with an external aerial.

Will report back on the Norfolk Openlink Wi-Fi setup.

I can confirm Orange is the best at Loddon, Vodafone is very iffy, i have both and am moored next to the staithe.

If you do have Vodafone and you desperately need a signal when in Loddon, the bridge out the back of Princess Cruisers that leads to the Pye's Mill footpath is always good for a couple of bars.  As are parts of the field itself, Pyes Mill is on and off.

And yes I've spent too much time there!
