Hi.

I have just been clearing my call registers etc on my mobile phone and discovered a load of outgoing phone calls that I did not make. My phone is always locked to prevent accidental number dialling and I keep it in an inside zipped pocket of my jacket. I never leave it lying about anywhere. The calls amount to around six hours. My supplier is T Mobile which is part of EE.

I have checked the numbers on the "who called me" website and some of them are scammer numbers.

Has anybody else experienced this phenomenon? Does anybody have an explanation?

That is not good , hope you have informed your provider I would hope they would put a stop of any of the numbers that you can see.   It is quite worrying.  Are you PAYG, if so it is not so tragic because eventually the phone will just run out of juice but if you are on contract that is not good.    If you are positive that no other person can use the phone then this has to be down to EE or whoever.

Hi Hylander.

I am suspecting EE. I do not use the phone much and when I do I usually text. The phone is an old Nokia. It may be that they are trying to get more revenue from me by doing this. I am going to keep an eye on the dialled numbers part of the menu and if it happens again I will buy a new phone on the 3 network. Three offer cheaper rates anyway and they have better reception in general.

LOL

Nice one Steve.

Incidentally, I went for two weeks on the Northern Broads  in mid Septemberand apart from Wroxham I did not get a signal Anywhere! on EE. My computer which runs on a Three modem worked perfectly apart from a few small dead spots.

I thought Horning now gets a mobile signal?  Haven't stopped there lately but know EE have lots of problems.  Our friend who lives in Wroxham is always without a phone as the network is down for a week at a time, pretty bad even for Norfolk... no offence people lol!! Wink

I use EE and found that for most places I had good signal strength -  unlike the Freeview TV dome that failed to pick up a signal anywhere on the northern Broads.

"Hi"
we use O2 and have a very good signal in Horning but its only been like it this year really prior to that it was a little bit of hit & miss with the signal around most of Horning Smile

Kindest Regards Mike

That particular phone might have a vulnerability. The scammers send out millions of calls to random numbers, eventually they find your model... and... they are in the money.

What you could do is google your phone make and model, followed by "problems" and do a search, eg  "Nokia 6543 problems"

I did the same when I was considering buying "Hive" for heating control.

best regards, Richard.

In my opinion, being on a boat is one of the most relaxing place to be.

Go to your app store, preferably google, and download an app called MALWAREBYTES. Run a scan and see what it finds. I think I might know what the problem is
