Funny one this.
I had to reset this comp back a couple of months due to
switching it on and all my files and pictures seemed to
have disappeared! No idea why.
I ran a virus scan but nothing came up, so I did the
above and all the files etc came back.
Only now I find that Adblocker doesn't seem to be
working and I tried to re-install it, which it said it
had but it still doesn't work!
I tried to find it in my programs folder but I can't
find it anywhere. I want to try deleting it and then
re-install again.
Any ideas anyone? PLEASE! It's driving me mad....

Not checked but from memory...

I think Adblocker is a browser plugin/extension/add-on that is installed into the browser. Try looking in your browser plugins/extensions/add-ons depending which browser you are using. It may be already there and just need enabling or reinstall through the relevant add-on menu.

BB, which browser are you using? I don't think it appears on your computer as an installed program. It's a browser add-on.

In Firefox, for example, in the 'Tools' drop down menu, AdBlock Plus appears at the bottom of the list. Hover on those words and another menu opens, with 'Options' at the bottom. Hover over that, and there is an option to show it in the toolbar, or not. If the option to show it isn't ticked, tick it and it should reappear in the toolbar.

Or, again in the Tools menu, click on 'Add-ons' and you should see it in the list. It may show as having been disabled.

I use 'uBlock'.  https://www.ublock.org/

uBlock is a Browser 'plug-in', not an installed program.

It is an open source Advert and Pop-up Blocker which has a good range of options and 'tweaks'.

I used to rely on Adblocker, and Adblcocker Plus but I have found uBlock very effective and easily 'tweaked' to my personal preferences.

I believe that uBlock can be added to various browsers.

I use the 'Pale Moon' browser which is a Mozilla fork, related to Firefox - but a more lightweight version than Firefox.

I will not use Internet Explorer and I will NOT use Chrome!!!!  I find that Opera is too 'heavy' and 'resource hungry'. Firefox is more 'lightweight' than Opera, and Pale Moon is even more 'lightweight' than Firefox.

I've used Pale Moon with uBlock for well over a year and have had no issues or complaints.

Just a comment - because we all get a computer that suddenly refuses to work correctly, and defies all the normal recovery procedures  . . . . .

When ever I buy a new or a rebuilt computer with the 'Windows' operating system, the first thing I always do is install 'Casper' (https://www.fssdev.com/) and then using a spare hard drive (and using Casper) create a complete clone of the computer's hard drive on the spare drive.

If the computer subsequently crashes irrecoverably, or the hard drive fails, or somehow a virus gets in, I can very easily and quickly have the computer "Like New" again.

Casper includes the Registry with the copies, plus all the drivers for that particular computer - so the cloned drive really is a complete clone, ready to run.

I then load the computer with the various software I intend to use on that machine - test everything thoroughly and then re-clone the drive so I then have a complete copy of the working drive. The cloned drives are labelled and safely stored as an 'insurance' in case things go wrong.

If I do get a failure, I make another copy of the cloned drive and pop that copy into the failed computer (still keeping the original clone unused). Everything is back up and running and 10 minutes.

The 'failed' drive is then completely wiped, thoroughly checked, re-formatted and set aside ready in case needed again.

All my computers at both work and home are cloned like this. I view the additional cost of buying hard drives considerably cheaper than spending time trying to rescue a corrupted drive, and then while away the hours cleaning it and then re-installing everything.

All 'Saved' files are regularly and frequently copied onto a portable hard drive as a back-up. These can quickly be transferred back onto the 'new' computer.

So far, I've recovered three 'dead' computers in this manner. In each case the actual 'recovery' took no more than around ten to fifteen minutes. Copying the 'backed up' files from the portable drive took a while longer, but important ones could be accessed immediately if required.

Life is too short to be fiddling around for hours on end with your head under the bonnet of a stubborn computer when there are boats to be played with!

It is a browser extension on Chrome or Firefox. Top right corner should be an icon where you can enable or disable it.

Sorry for the late reply to this but Iv'e been a bit busy!
I followed the information as to where to find it and it
was ticked as 'working'. But it wasn't!
Yesterday I deleted the program and, just now, downloaded
it as a new program and it is now working fine.
Thanks for taking the time to help me. Cheers
