Hi all, on the broads at mo. and my iphone5 has decided to enter the " restore loop " mode. I do not have a pic on board but have iPad with Internet access. I have tried the usual tips of holding down power / home buttons in various sequences but to no avail. Any help from the technical minded folk appreciated.
Thanks, Stu

I know absolutely nothing about iPhones, but from an Internet search, it seems you either have to connect it to a PC and use iTunes, or use a third-party program.

The instructions I've found on button pushing are:

1.Press and hold down the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears.
2.Once you see the logo, let go of the buttons.
3.Once your iPhone reboots itself, you're done with the process.

Other instructions involve erasing all content and settings!!!

Hopefully, someone who knows what all that means will come along and explain it.

Thank you Paladine, just managed to adapt SIM card to fit my old htc phone which I was using as a speedo through saildroid. I am now able to make and receive calls which is fine until we get home to use PCs. What did we do before phones haha

Not had an iphone for a few years now, but when I did I had the same problem and it was a real pig to sort out. I think Pally's right in that it needed to be linked through itunes which is probably not available to you on the boat. I also think there is a difference as to whether your iPhone is jailbreaked or not. You maybe able to google on your ipad and download a third party application but I fear you may end up wiping your phone unless you wait until you can use iTunes.

My iPhone 6 plus done the same thing today.
Solution hook it up to any laptop-PC running iTunes and it should sort itself out. Might have to wipe & reload.. I did

Moored at Sutton yesterday and had a walk into Stalham. Found a PC shop which also repaired mobiles. Had a word with the chap in there who agreed that plugging into a PC with iTunes was the only way to restore. Guess what I didn't take with me !! Doh
