After a rather amusing hour of watching my brother balance on top of an ocean 30, my sister in-law and I thought it may be wise to asked the forum of the best products available on the market. Although watching this was surely more entertaining than any TV program LOL

Thanks mate. I did not want to watch the TV any way! But you have to do as your told. Apparently it made better entertainment with me stood on top of the boat making a t£t of myself. Bring on the fishing season then I can add another year before I have to be told to try again.

Just to keep the peace if any one has any good suggestions, other than a DVD, or leave the telly at home which I'm all for, that would be great ??.

Cheers

Paul

Do a forum search and you will find lots of advice on this. Nigel (Woodwose) gives a lot of useful advice but the best piece is to switch the TV off, get out and about, explore and  and watch what is around you!

Since the analogue signal was turned off and the digital signal was boosted at the Tacolneston transmitter, almost any TV aerial will give good results. But I still use one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fringe-Electronics-Pro-Satellite-Finder/dp/B00LGWN87S to ensure I'm getting the strongest signal.

Thanks for the replies I will take a look. As I said in my OP I would be happy not to have a TV on board. in some 40 years of boating I can probably count on my one hand the number time of times I have watched one we are normally out and about. That said if the weather turns the O/H would like the option. Smile

Cheers

Paul

The log periodic type with built in amplifier is the only ariel that I can get channels 1-5 in the moorings at Wroxham, the boat had new  status complete with booster installed (quite an expensive job) fitted when I purchased it but have removed it as it was useless at our home moorings.
The log work better and they are cheap as chips as well.

Hi L which perodic log do you have(which lengh), I have had allsorts of different aerials over the years including a short perodic log, now beginning to think the 3foot 6 perodic log could be the one.
