I was thinking of getting them for our October holiday but if you think don't bother then I won't.

We worked out that moving the dongle about 2m above the waterline improved things greatly.  On Fair Sovereign this was on top of the helm seatback.

Hi Garry1973, welcome to the forum. Hope you like it here.
When at St Olaves we put our dongle in a plastic sandwich bag and peg it to the fly bridge canvas framework. This works ok when the tide is low. The battery in the dongle is not good so we use a 2000mA power bank to feed it. The next job is fit a dual USB socket in the fly bridge panel. Smile

If you get an unlocked mifi you can put any SIM card in I use 3 ee and vodaphone for different areas of the broads and I run TVs iPads laptop and iPhone but you will still get dead areas.

Thanks Colin I do feel half on the water (although in York).  Back to the thread internet works where ever I tried it but if not there is always a bottle of red....

To obtain live TV.

Punch into search on your laptop either ITV live or Sky News live or something of your choice and it will bring up for ITV the ITV hub and may ask you to register which I have,   nothing sinister about it.  Then when the arrow comes up in the middle of your screen if ITV 1 if that is what you have chosen then that is what you get.   Sometimes we got a lot of buffering and sometimes we got no buffering.   It is not using the boats batteries and you can easily charge your laptop on route to where ever.   Win win.   We watched TV in bed.  You will of course need to keep the mifi also charged.   On Silverline Simoon the charging points were none existent except for one old fashioned lighter point so good job we took our adaptor we use in the car to run the camera and the sat nav.    So anyone hiring Silver Simoon be aware there are 2 three pin sockets in the entire boat one for the kettle and toaster and one for the TV which is on the floor in a cupboard , hardly user friendly so you have to use the cigarette lighter for charging.  Next time if we had Simoom we would take an extension lead with us to charge several items when on route or when we managed to get on an electric point.
