And I thought that the new extension at Hunsett Mill was bad. I truly don't see how any of the designs fit within the BA planning policy's. I bet I you wanted to erect one on a piece of your own prime riverside frontage (say in Horning)to use as a house it would be refused outright.

Best Regards

Bob

You see this is the problem - I quite like the extension at Hunsett Mill although I do not especially like the windows which I guess will not stand the test of time. The existing was nothing other than a mishmash having little merit - in my view I hasten to say!!

Just as you will find plenty who will criticise I suspect there will be many like me, who like exciting modern architecture, and I see no issues whatsoever with, for example the sail idea, which is by far my favourite!

You see I even find the Louvre exciting whilst I guess many find it an abomination!

Really do like the first one.  The aerial view shows that the roof picks up the lines of both the Bridgecraft sheds opposite, and the building at the front of the Bridge Inn.  Space inside looks light and airy, with good views over river and marshes.  This would enhance the rather dilapidated Acle riverside scene, in my opinion.  Second one is OK, not my favourite but could live with it.  Scale of the third one seems wrong, too tall.

If this does go ahead, which I'm sure it will.....
Who is funding it? Not the BA I hope! JP keeps rattling
on about the BA being short of money and so our tolls
keep going up at well above inflation. Maybe not directly
funded by our tolls but you can bet they are used to
fill a hole somewhere in their budget....

Bill, I believe that I'm right in suggesting that at least half the funding will be from external sources.

The site was purchased for moorings so no doubt that the Navigation Account funded that one however the first design, the long one, is against the bank so I suspect that ten or more valuable moorings will be lost and that does worry me so I do then question the use of navigation money in funding 100% of the purchase price.

Wasn’t there something in the original press release about seeking external funding?  Have they sold the old building at Womack yet?  Might they use the proceeds of that sale towards the cost of the new building?

Bob, I understand that the Field Base was sold to a man who was a keen poster on both forums but has been very quiet lately. Whether those procedes should fund this project has to be open to question.

Not arguing the case of whether money raised from the sale of the Womack premises should be used for this project, it’s just that some have speculated about where the money would come from, and I am then wondering if this is what they have in mind.  Losing one redundant building but replacing it with something else downriver?

Ok so there might be a new building there, not really a problem as far as i am concerned. Is this an opportunity to incorporate the Norwich BA headquarters into the design.

Having the Broads Authority headquarters on the Broads how about that for a  radical move?
