Marshman. I have no problem with modern architecture with modern materials. My issue with Hunsett was the naff 'office' windows that looked and still do as if they had been put in as an afterthought. As far as Acle goes the old buildings charming as they were(to some) were well past their sell by date and a new building could well be an improvement however with consideration to Policy DP4 I cannot see how the third choice in particular comes anywhere near satisfying it.
Best Regards Bob PO20 But NR12 as much as possible.

I quote from the above report "Sacked Chair Granny Burgess". Any clues on that one?

Shouldn't read too much into drivel written by someone with a chip on his shoulder!! I find them neither funny nor informative!! Jacqui Burgess is the Chair of the BA and James Knight likes her as much as he likes JP. Actually she is OK - certainly easy to talk to! Its the association with the BA that the above continues to make so much fuss about!!

James is no longer that blessed Pike. As for what's written I'm quite sure that there is no smoke without fire.

I worry about the access from the road. I doubt whether anyone has produced a business case to justify the project - how many visitors will be attracted, etc.? If there is any justification at all, it must imply significant traffic turning in and out of the site just past a blind summit on Acle Bridge. It only needs a queue of one or two vehicles before there is inadequate stopping distance to avoid piling into the back of the queue. To my mind there is no need for this development - it will add yet another expensive folly to the BA's cv - and it will be dangerous to boot. Phil

The traffic to and from the site can easily be controlled by high traffic lights. It would also help break up traffic making turning right from the B1152 much easier and safer.

Are there are criteria to be met before traffic lights are installed? e.g. number of vehicles per hour using the junction(s). number of pedestrians etc. As the lights would be solely for the purpose of vehicles entering/leaving private properties, who pays for the installation and on-going maintenance? Genuine questions.

There are many genuinwe questions that need answering, not least the one relating to traffic control. JP is a contributor to this forum and some straight talking answers would not go amiss. I have revisited the shortlisted designs and the 'up-skirt' one is actually quite appealing and rather clever but do we honestly need what some might see as a shrine to JP's BNP ambition? Obviously JP will see it in another light. In principle I'm against this project if the evidance of the shortlisted designs is anything to go by. Please, JP, the floor is yours. Perhaps Richard could extend an invitation to him to present his case.

I agree there are lots of questions, but on one small point, if it’s dangerous to turn into this site, then it is more dangerous to turn left into The Bridge, and its almost suicidal to turn right into Pedros.
