Dear All

Urgent Boating News – As part of the 2018/19 planned dredging programme dredging is due to start on the River Bure 300 metres upstream of Horning Swan.  This work will start on Tuesday 24 April 2018, various sections will be dredged between Horning Swan corner and Cockshoot Dyke.  Please be aware of manoeuvring vessels at the dredge site and at the offload site at Horning Hall, this is 500 metres upstream of the mouth of the River Ant.  If you require more information in relation to this work phone Tim Lamb 07771676074.

Kind Regards

Laura Milner

Well yes it is but perhaps the tail back is expected to go past the Swan Playful Wink

Isn't there supposed to be some kind of Horning Boat Show a couple of weeks after the start date?  Is this going to be the fastest dredge in the East? Scared

Learn to sail round lighters full of s***t trundling back and forth?

Presumably down much of the Horning reach during the boatshow, lots of things will be moored stern-on again.  It would be helpful if the Lady and Gentleman could reveal what arrangements are being made during the three days around the 5th for the benefit of those attending by Boat.

Here's the map of the Show. I suspect you need to be moored up very early, just under 24 hours before to get a mooring.

Bill, I suspect that the Blessed Authority are bereft of arrangements to accommodate the Horning Boat Show as regards the dredging. They’re having enough internal issues differentiating between their collective elbows and backsides currently.

That said, with dredging, they’re damned if they do and damned if they don’t. On that stretch of river there is no perfect time...aside from maybe mid-winter. I’m no expert on the subject but I suspect that there are reasons for not doing it at that time.

I’m not defending the Authority but...the timing could have been worse...the 3RR for instance.  Scared

I do like an optimist, you assume that they will not still be at it on the 2nd of June? Frown   Still time to find the wrong kind of mud or Crested Newts with families of tadpoles tounge-in-cheek Plus if DEFRA can insist that hedge cutting is stopped during the nesting season the timing does seem rather odd {great shades of the Coot Club}
