Tomorrow night 8.00pm on channel 4 second series of the above show, with Timothy West and The ever beautiful Prunella Scales, series one was fantastic,  but tinged with a touch of sadness as Prunellas mind is slowly fading,  so they decided to go to their favourite waterways for the final memories and remaniscing of manymany hours afloat. Great show, great couple. Worth a watch.

Just watched this evenings episode that I recorded earlier.
Lovely old couple, but my heart was in my mouth, maybe time to swallow the anchor. With the film crew there all would be fine but think they maybe a tad long in the tooth now.

We too have watched all their journeys so far but really
think that this should be the last trip.
Playing 'Pinball Boating' is not something to laugh
about when hitting other boats and ancient bridges.
With all the years of boating behind them, he shouldn't
be hitting anything!
When they picked the boat up it was pristine, but by the
time they had finished, it was looking decidedly second
hand.
I think that they are a lovely couple but it's now time
to bite the bullet and do something else.

I so agree with BB, "Pinball Boating" sums it up well. In every program he hit something... and said boating was a contact sport.

No it isn't... not in every day cruising it isn't.
If the engine cuts out, or the gear cable snaps, then you think about damage limitation.
That guy is a liability. Heaven help us this season on the Broads.

With last nights program on the Canal du Midi, if I can briefly mention another waterway, it's not one that is going to take me away from the Broads at any point. I saw enough for me to realise I prefer the Broads.
However the aquaducts were very interesting, but some thing that could also be enjoyed from the land.

best regards, Richard.

“Pru’s got a condition you know… but that’s enough about her, look how wonderful I am. Ooops, I’ve just hit something else”

But last night, I was reminded of the classic Miss Piggy line: “Pretentious? Moi?”

Brought back memories, we did the midi a few years ago, would recommend it. We started from Carnon on the other side of the Etang de thau.  All the locks were manned by very helpful keepers.  Great holiday.

I fully agree with your positive thoughts re- the Canal du Midi. I spent my 60th birthday there in 2006 and tourists and locals alike made me feel special - there was a wine and food festival in full swing and needless to say I feasted and imbibed like a latter-day HenryVIII. I picked the boat up at Trebes and cruised to Fontserrones and back. Happy days, but the Broads will always remain my undisputed favourite.
             Kindest regards, Brian.

I love the programme and don't really see Tim West as coming across as arrogant on the contrary he seems very grounded, I've seen a few programmes on the C.D.M. and have to say I would love to give it a go.
