A bargain is a relative thing. Since it was once on the market @ £150,000 north of the realized auction price maybe you could say it is:

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-39508216.html

But you can not compare it to a London Flat as the commute to the City, Canary Wharf and Heathrow would prove testing on a daily basis.
You can drive to Italy in a Kia Picanto but a Mercedes S class makes it easier.

Somewhere nice and remote out of prying eyes.   Can think of many who would desire that an not especially for the  river views.

No doubt about it. Throw half a million at it and it could be very attractive indeed.

Puts the asking price for the Berney Arms into perspective even if it could be converted into a house!

I have to travel to London very, very often for work and enjoy the social buzz there but would not dream of living there. I would have bought there years ago otherwise. Being cooped up in an overpriced and small urban pad does not do it for me,
In all fairness mine is not a daily commute in that I tend to hotel it a couple of nights instead to do three days work. The other days I work in Norfolk. Although sometimes it does not work out that well...
London is fine, but give me the sticks any day!

I've read this thread and the previous one with interest. Sorry but any property with a connection to the Broads is now making mega bucks no matter what the benefits or disadvantsges. Moorings alone topping £40k, so to expect to get it for £80k is a pipe dream from 20 years ago !!
East Anglia in general is the latest area where prices are being hiked up by the easier transport routes, either existing or planned, who wouldn't want to live in this lovely area instead of say Essex (sorry Essexites, just using parts of it as an example) Every village has houses prices out of range of young locals wanting to remain but can't. I for one know if I were just starting out, i could not afford to buy my own home now ! So enjoy it while you can still afford to.

Stay or go is not property dependent as people like to go on about. It is earnings related. There are just not the high earning skills based work in many areas which leads them to be the domain of the retired etc.If you want to be above average you need education, qualifications and equally important mobility.
