"putting signs up could inflame the matter"

If they do not put up the signs how do anglers know that they are not allowed there?
There are many anglers that are decent sorts and would not deliberately fish where they are not allowed.

But the B.A. Have no legal power to issue such a ban so why have fisherman not a right to fish there?

I believe The BA have no right to dictate that boats unable to pass under Beccles bridge should be exclusively reserved a section of mooring, but they tried, and when challenged relented and we now have the farce that is a three section colour coded piece of mooring, which to this day only the de-masting section is truly enforceable under the BA's byelaws. Doesn't stop the signs going up though.

Keith even the demasting section isnt enforced, when we were in Beccles the other week there was a yacht moored for hours on the demasting station on the Gillingham bank and motor boats moored on the demasting section on the Beccles side, the B.A. Rangers went past at least 2 times  while we were there and never said a word to anyone.

Dave,

I've seen that many times, but technically if The BA chose, the byelaws do prohibit the mooring of vessels at demasting moorings, unless they are demasting or putting the mast back up again. However there is nothing in the byelaws, and therefore nothing they can enforce, that allows them to give preference to one size of vessel over another. Therefore the sign reserving mooring space for vessels unable to pass under the bridge is not worth the metal it is printed on. So for a laymen, how do you decide when a BA sign is a request, or an order enforceable by a byelaw? Damn, wish I'd thought of that question earlier in the week Smile

You wouldn't have got an answer to that question either Keith.
