Thank you, steve. I have to admit to being in the 'I'm all right, Jack' brigade as well. The extra amount of toll I will have to pay is offset by the fact that I won't have to pay for a TV licence next year  LOL

But, while 'I'm all right', I don't subscribe to the next bit of the saying 'pull up the ladder'. I totally disapprove of the proposals simply because they are UNFAIR, INEQUITABLE and UNREASONABLE, when looked as as a whole. Those who benefit this time might well be not so fortunate next time, and who will stand up for them then, if they don't stand up for others now?

I to would like to add my thanks to Paladine for all the hard work he has put in, a lot of it unseen but spot on as usual and very concise.

While we are considering the question of ethical conduct and given the main beneficiary`s of the changes and the makeup of the committees perhaps we should also be asking the question about Conflict of Interests.

When I read Paladine's initial post, I became angry very quickly and had to walk away from the computer before I wrote something which would have got me into trouble!
For the forum and its members to be manipulated in this way is utterly despicable, it is adding insult to injury where the tolls proposal is concerned. If I could join other members (of both forums it would appear) on the 18th, I most certainly would but with an eight hour round trip I'm afraid it is a non-starter.
My thoughts are now turning to the higher echelons and I believe the BA comes under DEFRA. On the basis the Authority is most definitely not representing many of its stakeholders' views correctly and is intending to impose unfair and unjust increases on many toll payers (without providing any improvement in services), I believe it is time the Authority and its members became accountable. It seems to me that the only way to try and achieve this is to take the whole issue to a higher level.

I totally agree with everything that pally says.

I feel that my "rose tinted spectacles" view of the world has, on this occasion, let me down.

So I feel that I must, in what ever way possible, redress the situation. I would like to work together with all the Forums and social network sites to resolve this issue. If you run one of these outlets please get in touch with me at richard_tearle@hotmail.com

I think that we should get JP as Prime minister. If he is as good at putting one over everyone as he is made out to be on here think how beneficial that would be for the country.
Is calling another Forum member "a disgrace" within the ToS of the forum?
Even if it is, and call me squeamish if you like, but I do not see the need to be so pejorative and impolite.
I commented on the forum recently that I thought things had started to go beyond reasonable regarding a member.
Politeness costs nothing.

Exile, you are almost as good as JP at twisting words. I did NOT call him 'a disgrace'. I only referred to his behaviour when I said "...his behaviour towards Richard, his forum and our members has been nothing short of disgraceful." I have made no personal comments about his character. Just how have I been impolite?

Just about every member understood Paladine  exactly what u ment , the course of action if anyone is unhappy about anything posted is to take it up with the mods or Richard not to accuse others on open forum .
Many things posted on here have been twisted out of shape to read the opposite .

Would it have been right for JP to have named this forum in his report though?

Yes I agree that there are many private boat owners here, but surely we are simply a group of like minded individuals, here as a result of the kind provision by Richard. We are pretty much a social media forum of sorts, but I do not think we are so special we should be specifically named.....

Daz, I agree with you. Most people who use the Broads know about the NBF, and we don't need any extra advertising about our existence.

The problem I felt was that while the NBF was consulted. The views of the members, which were very negative, were completely ignored. Much like the proposals from the NSBA.

Paladine did the decent thing, and asked me to view the copy before it was posted, to ensure there was not a violation of TOS. I could seen none at that time, or now.

The first ASK JP I thought was very successful, but more importantly very informative.

The second one, not so much. If you look at the writing styles of the answers you can see some marked differences. Maybe there was a different crew providing the information for the responses delivered.

The BA do many great things, a lot of which they don't get much credit for. But like everyone I know, they screw up from time to time. This is one of those, "opps we got it wrong" moments.

I've only met Dr. Packman on a few occasions, but I've found him to be intelligent, articulate, educated and well informed. Certainly not the machiavellian character that some portray him as.

My hope is that the Proposed Toll change will be removed from the agenda prior to Friday.

Thus allowing for more consultation over the next year and allowing the committee and the stakeholders to build bridges, rather than ride rough shod over the majority of river users.

Paladine I do apologise that I clearly misunderstood your post. I should have reread it obviously. Especially as it struck me straight away as not your style. Sorry.

Richard's comment...

I could not agree more.
