First, though, I must say that Silverline Marine lived up to their very high reputation. I used to hire from Royall's so I am used to top-class service, and Silver Mystique was turned out to the very highest standard. Fitted out superbly, and not a fault could I find anywhere. Pity they are not on the northern waters.

The main problem laast week was the weather (b. cold for the time of year, and it is always a little cooler on the water), but also the lack of "hospitality" available - most pubs were only open at weekends. Mind you, sitting outside a pub in that weather was not much fun! So I ended up boozing on board and not spending any money.

Hi Shakespeare

Glad you managed to enjoy your week. To be fair April is quite often cold ( and wet). At least it was dry for you .

Regarding facilities I am not sure what else you expected . Takeaways consumed and drunk on board was always going to be the way forward at this particular time .

Which did you prefer North or South.

Graham

It was much as I had expected, but far fewer pubs were open than I'd hoped for. Never mind, I'd booked it for the same week of last year and when lockdown came along I mentally wrote the money off, so when boatyards allowed postponements I treated it as a freebie. It did bear out my memory that the southern waters are not so interesting to me as the northern ones. Looking forward to Velvet II at the end of June...

I must add although silver line marine are good and at a standard of royall and son ( much missed as a customer) i find that bridgecraft at acle are our next hireboat yard for similar service on Northern rivers ,
