Hi Everyone
Have just joined the Forum, as my wife and I are intending to buy a boat to be on the Broads.
I have been sailing on the East Coast most of my life, but the time has come when we need something more docile than being out at sea a lot of the time and so we have recently sold our yacht.
We really like the Aquafibre Opal 28 which would let us get under the bridges, so if anyone knows of a nice one coming up for sale, or something similar, please email me at paul_noonan@ymail.com
Thanks
Paul

Kindest Regards
Paul Noonan

Hi Paul and welcome to the forum. I'm guessing you've already been looking at the local brokerages, but in case you haven't, here is an Opal at NBS

https://www.norfolkboatsales.co.uk/used-boats/aquafiber-28-opal-cirrus-717.asp

and an Alpha 29 at Waterside.

Thanks Bill. We love the broads having had many holidays there and it is certainly more docile than getting caught out in strong winds in the middle of the north sea. We have now reached an age where we look forward to a quieter life.

Kindest Regards

Thanks Dave. Yes we realise that and it's why we have sold our yacht and are actively looking for a suitable broads motor cruiser

Thanks Steve
As it happens, these are the only 2 boats we have looked at so far. The Opal 28 seemed over priced and although very tidy inside, we didn't like the fact that the engine was in the main saloon and so fairly noisy. Also the transom and around the stern quarter on both port and starboard sides had been painted, so presumably had had some sort of accident and I have a bit of a thing about a boat must have it's original gel coat. Funnily enough this boat belonged to my sister and brother in law, who are on their 3rd boat since then and have gone back to an Opal 28. We didn't realise this when we viewed it, as the name had been changed.

The Alphacraft also had the engine in the main salooon and was noisy, the head lining was ripped in a couple of places and only one half of the roof would slide back as soalar panels had been bolted on top.

However your help is very much appreciated, so if you see anything else, please let me know.
Regards
Paul
